I was worried about the possibility of leaking enough fluid to damage my transmission but the last thing I want to do is drip transmission fluid on the track - even if it is only a few drops. It is currently a minimal leak but a leak nonetheless and it ain't going to fix itself. I'd better get it fixed ASAP. thanks, marty Jamie Howton wrote: >> How urgent a problem might this be? Before I would suspect they are a result of the same quirk, I'd pull and disconnect the head unit, and then see if the climate control still fails. Most times head unit/replacement upgrade to CD43 puts a smile on the face, and the climate control dead display is easily fixed by the DIY'r comfortable with a little soldering. Someone will post the link I am sure, or you can search google or the archives. Patrick Goss Had both problems and fixed -----Original Message----- From: Dames, Mark A. Costs either next to nothing to solder it or around $250 for a new climate control unit. Be careful with the car, while the climate control unit display is not lit, the a/c compressor is running constantly which is hardly good for it. If you confirm this is the case, best thing to do is stop driving the car until it's fixed. As far as the radio, I dunno. I'd recommend a hammer for that crappy stock radio ;) Thanks, Mark On Thu, 2006-05-25 at 11:55 -0500, Dames, Mark A. wrote: > Date: Thu, 25 May 2006 09:48:57 -0700 > From: "Dames, Mark A." <mdames@pdo.sccgov.org> > Subject: Quirky heater & radio controls > > On my 98 E36 M3 sedan, both the heater/A/C unit and the radio intermittantly quit running. #8. reco's for a 99% street alignment on a stock height m3? - from Scott Stiles

Date: Thu, 25 May 2006 10:08:01 -0700 From: "Scott Stiles" <stiles_s@hotmail.com> Subject: reco's for a 99% street alignment on a stock height m3? Last time I had it aligned, I did it to stock specs. Since (last 6mos), I've installed Bilsteins, control arms, brakes, wheel bearings, etc, etc. Though theoretically none of these would mess w/alignment, I'd like to have it done just in case. While I'm at it, I'd like to go a bit more aggressive. Back in my Miata days, there was an accepted "fast street" alignment that did wonders for the car. Is there some sort of group consensus on a good "fast street" alignment for the m3? Even w/o consensus, I'd love some thoughts. I'm guessing something along the lines of (when compared to stock). Keep in mind this is stock height (or a little above (bilsteins :) )) - as much front camber as I can get (little) - perhaps back off on rear camber a bit - zero front toe, or just a hair "out" - close to zero rear toe -- perhaps a hair toe "in". My goals: - nice quick turn-in - good steering feel - decent tracking on the freeway (though I'm willing to live w/a bit of tramlining in exchange for better handling) - reasonable reduction in understeer without going overboard (and adversely affecting other characteristics) Thoughts appreciated. Thanks much, Scott.

Just wondering, but was the failure mode Mark mentioned that same one as that fix addresses? When I had to fix my climate control, it was ON full-blast, heat to the floorboards, as well as a dim display. My 2 cents, Jim Bassett
