It's the head unit from the Z cars I think but it's a plug and play fitment into e36 and much better sounding especially if you have the HK factory upgrade. I think the CD43 is blapunkt. You loose the weather band of the oem e36 head unit w/ cassette, but gain CD in the head unit, and station recognition. The CD43 will still control the trunk changer if you have it. You will see them on ebay for around 250 or 300. I forget, its been awhile since I looked. -----Original Message----- From: Dames, Mark A. Will BMW parts know what that is referring to or do I need a specific model car that it came in to track down the part # ? How do you "pull the head unit"? Where exactly is the solder failure in question located? Before I would suspect they are a result of the same quirk, I'd pull and disconnect the head unit, and then see if the climate control still fails. Most times head unit/replacement upgrade to CD43 puts a smile on the face, and the climate control dead display is easily fixed by the DIY'r comfortable with a little soldering. Someone will post the link I am sure, or you can search google or the archives. Patrick Goss Had both problems and fixed -----Original Message----- From: Dames, Mark A. As with everything else ///M3, there is a right and a left. Best price I've seen for replacements is around $80.00 plus S&H each. Since I've just started working on the 325, getting it track-ready, I haven't bothered with correcting this annoiance. So, if you tackle it, let me know how it turns out. #7. unusual noise and vibration: update - from Brian Ruiz

Date: Thu, 25 May 2006 14:26:47 -0700 From: "Brian Ruiz" <eurowerke@gmail.com> Subject: unusual noise and vibration: update Hey all, I was leaving work last night, and the parking garage is at the top of a short hill in an alleyway. As I rolled down the hill to the street, for some reason I had a hunch to backup UP the hill. As I did, I heard the sound of flat metal plates slapping together that was related to how fast the car was rolling backwards. My mind instantly went to the differential. I don't know the last time the fluid was changed, so I'll go ahead and do that, but outside of that, does anyone have any ideas? The car does not make the same noise (at least not to a degree that is audible) when backing up on a flat road. TIA again, Brian build 8/95

Mine was the opposite. Sometimes the climate control worked fine. Sometimes the climate control fan wouldn't come on, no matter how much I fiddled with the controls. The problem usually happened on hot days, after the car had been parked outside for a while. (Never failed in the winter.) After 20-30 minutes of highway driving with the windows open, the fan would usually work again. Soldering in the new capacitor fixed the problem. -- David Ripton dripton@ripton.net

There is a small switch in it that slightly drops the window when you open the door. That is what I think needs to be replaced. While driving I have had the problem of the drivers window dropping down and then back up about the same amount as when I open the door to get in and out of the car. It also would not allow the window to close correctly if I was using the button in the console. It did the same as yours by stopping after going up about four inches. It would close most of the time after pusing the button all the way down and holding it until the window closed. When I adjusted the pin/closing latch on the center of the drivers door jamb it stopped doing that but now the dome light stays on all the time so I turn it off manually until I get the new switch.. If not then I am crazy.....and am seeking help for both the car and my ideas. :) Keith Williams 95' Blk/Blk Vader M3 Confortied -------------- Original message -------------- From: Tripp Racioppi <r3_m3@yahoo.com> > Date: Thu, 25 May 2006 11:35:49 -0700 (PDT) > From: Tripp Racioppi > Subject: Re: [E36M3] Power window "sticky" > > Mark, > > I've got the same problem with my 97 coupe.
