You will have to change the cats, headers, the entire motor with the intake runners, the diff (since the 95s ran 3.23). If anything, I would go HS route. Change the diff, put in aluminum door panels and hood (MA Shaw) throw in a light weight battery, remove the rear seats and A/C along with the stereo and you can run under 3000lb legally in HS (plus you can add the big spoiler back there as well :) Ahmad Lutfeali Peachtree Chapter '98 M3 #75 I-stock -------------------- 4 -------------------- Date: Wed, 31 May 2006 09:30:23 -0700 (GMT-07:00) From: Kirk Lachman <admranger@earthlink.net> Subject: Anyone do a complete OBDI to OBDII swap? Ok, this is probably backwards of what has usually been done, but I'll ask anyway: Has anyone swapped an OBDI engine, computer, exhaust, diff, etc. for an OBDII? Any idea on what would be involved other than a straight swap (i.e., harness does/does not plug into fuse box?)? Just thinking of making the car a '97 instead of a '95 (I really need to *closely* look at the rules for this). Cheers, Kirk Lachman Sin City Chapter '95 M3 #21 I-stock

#3. Replacement Windshield - from Neil Maller

Now that it's also acquired a couple of chips I'm thinking seriously about a pre-emptive replacement. I recall that there's something of a consensus that PPG is the brand to go with, and it's recently been mentioned that it's a good idea to buy the original BMW seal. I assume that's part #6 here? <http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BG93&mospid=47488&btnr=51_205 1&hg=51&fg=05> Anything else needed? That diagram doesn't show whatever seals the windshield along the bottom. One more thing. When I had the driver's door glass replaced many years ago, the new generic glass turned out to lack the shadow/shading along the edges. The installer hadn't noticed, but agreed that this was unacceptable, ordered the BMW P/N and redid it at no charge. Does the PPG windshield come with this shadowing? Neil 96 M3

I know of one car that did something very similar a couple of years back, but that was, like, 20 rules revisions ago :-) I get the gist, I'm just not sure it's legal (anymore?). And no, I don't want to get into a long, Bf.c-type discuss over this :-) Not a route I'd recommend, either. My 2 cents, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP

You CAN put in a light weight battery to reduce weight in Stock class provided the minimum weight is met. Jack Money reads this list often ;) As for my car, its truly and IS (got my annual tech and log book this past weekend). However I switched carriers last year, and the M3 is heavily modified track car: "Do I get a premium discount for the optional safety equipment? Roll bar, 6-point harness, big brakes, really sticky tires..." All things considered I think it's a better strategy for me to maintain as low a profile as possible with the insurance company.
