At least I can learn something here. So given what I've learn, I can go further between oil changes if i run synthetics. Of course, it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. 3k vs. 7k'ish. This will require me to take "baby steps" on the oil change intervals. =P So the consensus is: 0-40w Mobil1 or German Castrol 0w30 (german made) Thanks! -kelvin "who's somewhat thickskinned" Jim Bassett wrote: > Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2006 20:22:20 -0700 (PDT) > From: "Jim Bassett" <jim@jimbassett.com> > Subject: Re: [E36M3] Synthetic Oil needed? > > On Mon, June 5, 2006 7:14 pm, Rich Dorffer said: > >> Sorry Kelvin, I will take this one step further than Jim, >> > > Well, I'm trying to "play nice" over here :-) Besides, he's new here, I > can cut him some slack. > > And for the record, I agree with the rest of what Rich said. > > Jim Bassett - sarcastic SOB (you'll get used to it, Kelvin :-)) > > > > > > >

#7. Rear Lower Control Arm Bushings - Replacement - from Peter Loron

Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2006 22:24:31 -0700 From: "Peter Loron" <peterloron@gmail.com> Subject: Rear Lower Control Arm Bushings - Replacement I believe I need to replace my rear lower control arm (wishbone) outer bushings along with my RTABs on my 98 M3/4. I hope to borrow an RTAB tool (or hack one together). Looks like the DIYs I've found are pretty straightforward. Can anybody point me to a DIY for the RLCABs? Any specific tool I need? Pelican indicates that this (33-32-1-136-311-M69) is the correct part..can anybody confirm? Thanks! -Pete

Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2006 22:39:41 -0700 From: "Chris Teague" <cteague@cox.net> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Rear Lower Control Arm Bushings - Replacement Pete, On your 98 M3, the lower outer control arm bushing is really a ball joint. Same as the upper. The 95's, and regular 3 series did use a bushing in the lower spot. I used BMW 136-311 ball joint kit from Technic Tool. I replace both the upper and lower ball joints with this tool. See: http://www.technictool.com/bmwtools.htm It worked great, and was easy, once you remove the control arm. #10. Re: Rear Lower Control Arm Bushings - Replacement Tool? - from Steve Klein

Date: Tue, 6 Jun 2006 01:21:22 -0500 From: Steve Klein <s.klein@steveklein.cc> Subject: Re: Rear Lower Control Arm Bushings - Replacement Tool? I would love to hear about any tools for this. I rigged one up once, but it barely made the task due to the fact that the bushing angles into the wheel hub. Now, I'm waiting for new eccentric bolts and outer bushings as I've managed to snap the nut end off of one. Much to my dismay, the bolt itself is seized to the inner metal sleeve of the bushing and won't budge. I can move the front half of the control arm out of the way, but the back half is firmly fixed in place and I'm fretting exactly how I'm going to remove the bolt and bushing to replace them. Any ideas or inspired thoughts are greatly appreciated. Steve P.S. I confirm I ordered bushings with the part number 33-32-1-136-311, but I couldn't find a tool with the number 33-32-1-136-311-M69 on Pelican Parts. Did I miss it?
