I wonder how the same shocks can get such different reviews, it's all opinion obviously and different thresholds for harshness I guess. I had them on my 98 M3 and they were too soft (well the springs really, Eibach Prokits). I could daily drive this car on that suspension even in our crappy Detroit roads. I went with tckline Koni coilovers (SA) and this is a harsher setup although I did increase the spring rates significantly. -Carlos 98 M3

I have the TCK Koni DA's (coilovers in my case) and have run Koni SA's in the past. You don't say what your needs/wants are, but in general the DA's are significantly stiffer than the SA's, to the point that they almost (maybe not quite) start their range of adjustment where the SA's leave off. This may be just what you're looking for - it was for me - but I thought I'd point it out. > I plan on calling GC myself, but thought I might ask the list in advance for > insight and suggestions. If there's been one consistent theme on this Digest regarding GC it's that they make nice products, but you really don't want to deal directly with them. They just don't seem to be set up for sales to the public, as their dysfunctional web site tends to reveal. If it were me I'd call Bimmerworld for GC products. BW's customer service has always been outstanding. Neil 96 M3

Date: Tue, 13 Jun 2006 08:03:23 -0700 From: "Burgess, Kim L" <kim.l.burgess@boeing.com> Subject: RE: Bilstein Sport struts old vs. new I recall Bilsteins on backorder about a year ago. All I recall from the chatter at the time was that they were reconfiguring the bumpstops. Lowered M3s would ride on the bumpstops. Recently, the internet chatter is that the lower spring perch has been relocated - a tad lower...and now I'm hearing they were re-valved them. Take your pick. #9. Brake circuit layout? - from Steve Klein
Top
Date: Wed, 14 Jun 2006 13:22:25 -0500 From: Steve Klein <s.klein@steveklein.cc> Subject: Brake circuit layout? As a follow up to my caliper piston scenario, I've got new front pistons on the way from Bimmerworld to be installed this Sunday, but in the mean time, there has been a symptom persistent but greatly diminished since my recent rebuild, and I'm trying to understand the layout of the brake circuits from the MC down to each wheel. The persistent symptom is a tendency of my Right Front (RF) wheel/ caliper to lock up and activate the ABS under 70%-100% threshold braking. It was MUCH more pronounced when my LF caliper was hanging and dragging, with even moderately firm braking causing the right to activate ABS. I've cleaned and checked all the wheel speed sensors within the past 1.5 years, as a data point. As I said, the effect is greatly diminished, but after a few bleeds, there's still a little sponginess to the initial pedal travel and when stopped, when it firms up it feels like it's sinking just imperceptibly. Sooo, I'm curious about the Master Cylinder circuit layout and whether I may have a seal going bad in there. Bentley has a rough schematic, but doesn't show the MC layout and whether one circuit goes through the ABS to both fronts or is split front/ opposite rear. Of course, I'll see how the JB Weld has held up in the ATE Superblue and whether it's involved, but I'd appreciate any information on the rest of the braking system. Thanks, Steve

#10. Who's in Dallas???? - from Chip E.

If you could do a compression check on it that would be a huge plus.... but seeing how you already drive an M3, you should have a pretty good idea if the motor is lagging....but a compression check would be REALLY cool. Thanks in advance for any assistance. - Chip - Chip Eberhart - Carless in Chicago
