Does anyone know if the flashing CE light scheme to decipher codes works with Conforti OBDI chips? I"ve got a CE light and can't get it to flash at all with the usual 5 quick pumps of the accelerator. TIA, Tom Tice '98 M3/4 '93 325iS '02 325iT/5 '02 X5 4.4

If you are interested in something, email me the details and I will start another list of orders. Please just be a little patient on time frames as it will require going through the whole process again. Also, I am going to charge a little more on shipping this go round, b/c I got killed on that last time. Congrats on the new car. I look forward to a ride sometime soon ;) As for the shirts, I *believe* you missed the boat, a list member volunteered to do a run of shirts and send them out and such. Don't feel bad, though, I missed the boat as well; oh well, maybe next time. I've also gotta get myself one of those nifty list stickers some day.. would look good on the coupe! :) Seeya on 7/29, if I don't happen to run into you at the mall or something before then. - reid __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? #5. RE: [E36M3] Water pump Question - from Matthew Teel

Date: Thu, 22 Jun 2006 14:02:59 -0800 From: "Matthew Teel" <mteel@beluga.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Water pump Question Driving was mixed city and highway the day it failed, but the day before I had taken a road trip of about 240 miles. I didn't realize it until I received a check coolant level message. There were just a couple of dime sized puddles on the garage floor when I pulled the car out. Closer examination revealed it leaking coolant from the seal behind the fan. The pump bearing was actually making quite a bit of noise, but not enough to hear from inside the car with the windows rolled up. I could even see the pulley wobbling at idle. I've since parked the car while I wait for parts to arrive. I decided to go for the Stewart Components pump, stock t-stat, Eurosport under-drive pulleys, metal t-stat housing, new radiator, hoses, Redline water wetter and fan delete. My car has 129K on it and all I've ever done to the cooling system is add coolant. Exactly one gallon (before mixing 60/40 with H2O) during the lifespan of the vehicle. If you don't mind me asking, in what way did your water pump fail. What kind of traffic situation and how did you realize it? Reason is because I'm at 175,000 with a possibly original that I need to replace ASAP. I'd like to know the symptoms to look for so if it fails I can shut down immediately. Thanks, Mark

The one on my M Coupe just doesn't work, it must be a short somewhere in the system because even holding the pin closed by hand, or unplugging the switch, doesn't help. I just unplugged that option at the alarm brain and it works great. - reid > > about a week ago the factory installed security system in my 97' 328 began > > having issues. normally to lock it chirps once, to unlock it chirps > > twice, and if a door is open it would chirp three times when attempting to > > lock it. now it only chirps three times. occasionally it will work normal, > > but it is really irriating me. anyone have any suggestions.? > > Low battery in the key fob remote? I have an OBD II code reader for the OBD II '98 M3 which does me no good on the '93 325iS. The '93 should behave the same as '95 M3s so I thought someone on the list would know for sure. In case anyone else is interested, after a call to Josh at Eurosport I learned that all Conforti chips (OBD I) maintain the pedal stomp CE light sequence indication. Nonetheless, mine is still a non-flasher. I'm now suspecting that my accelerator is not going down far enough to trip the WOT switch which is what I believe actually triggers the ECU to flash the CE lights. This may explain another concern I have with the car. Tom Tice '98 M3/4 '93 325iS '02 325iT/5 '02 X5 4.4

(I'm being confrontational, I'm truly curious). Is it the R5/FCX-II (http://www.peakeresearch.com/code_tool.htm)? I regularly use my Peake Code Reader on both cars, successfully. Both cars have JimC chip/SW as well. The Peake tool should work just fine on the '93 325is. My 2 cents, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP
