#1. RSM and Strut Reinforcement Plates - Free - from Kent Shephard

The front plates are new and I bought them forgetting that I had some installed when I did the suspension over a year ago. The rears I have because I just upgraded to Ground Control RSM, great BTW. Anyway, anyone in the Bay Area can have them. Outside of the Bay Area, you can have them if you pay shipping. Kent Shephard kents@kshephard.com

Now to deal with the check engine light, ABS/ACS light. -----Original Message----- From: Neil Maller [mailto:neil.maller@gte.net] Sent: Wednesday, June 28, 2006 1:07 PM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] Re: Ringing sound from main belt Date: Wed, 28 Jun 2006 17:04:54 -0400 From: Neil Maller <neil.maller@gte.net> Subject: Re: Ringing sound from main belt on 6/28/06 3:26 PM, "Matthew Teel" <mteel@beluga.com> wrote: > Had anyone experienced something like this? > Is anyone else running the Eurosport under-drive pulleys? I have both the Eurosport pulleys and the Stewart water pump, but no ringy-dingy. Describe the sound in more detail. Is it a ding-ding-ding synchronized to rotation, like a once-around scrape? Or is it a continuous riiiiiing resonance? I had the heavy duty ones installed when I did my suspension and in retrospect, I could have saved time and money just going straight to the GC units. I installed the RSM plates as soon as I bought the car. So no tear through. From my experience, when doing any suspension upgrades, just buy the best damn RSM from the start. It will save aggravation and money. Take it from someone, who had the aggravation and spent double money. Stock? I have seen instances where people did not assemble the RSM with the proper spacers/shims (those cone shaped things) and what happens is the rubber comes out of the center of the RSM. I wouldn't expect your rear shock towers to completely fail after you were there very recently. I would have suggested doing the same and, in fact, when a friend with a E46M3 wanted to install some underdrive pulleys, I had him do exactly that. It appears that some alternators are tight fitting while others are not. What most don't know is the nut on the alternator that accepts the bolt that locates and secures it is press fit into the alternator. When I got a OEM variant from some place, the nut was missing and I had to bang out the old one to press it onto the new one. I would imagine the only issue is once it's pressed in too far, it is very awkward to push it back out to create more slack.
