I measured them, they are 60mm perches. I just couldn't recall if we had the matching perches for the springs or not. My local mechanic/racer called BMW and that entire hemispheric piece of metal was in stock at the local dealer. Lots of them in fact. Must be common.. He cut out the whole piece, welded in the new one. painted, undercoat, etc.... I asked him to put on the Z4 reinforcement plates after getting the advice from this list. Very professional job (he has 2 C4 race vettes and a C5). Under 300 bones for one side. Jonathan

I'm sure you can get a little more with a lowered car, but it still seems to come up a little short in the negative camber department. Mike, Maybe I'm missing something in your comment, but I think that adjustment is additive to the camber you already have. In my case I'm using the TC Kline racing camber plates (they are not harsh and do not rattle, IMO), and with the plates set to full positive position my camber is -1.6 degrees (daily driving). When I autox I move them full negative and my camber reading is -3.6 degrees (so there is the -2 degrees). Maybe that helps. cheers, Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe (sponsored by Wheel Collision Center & JT-Designs) Philly Region SCCA 2005 Philly Region BSP Champion

I put 50+ miles on the car today and it's been nice and quiet. It remains puzzling as to the cause, but it's all moot unless it returns to haunt me someday. Thanks to all for the suggestions. I used to think the gauge was driven by the ecu, but I no longer think so since I run a tec3 and the gauge still works. If there is any damping done to the signal I think it's done in the cluster it self. There are two separate temp senders used with different outputs, one goes to the ECU and the other right to the instrument cluster if you read the wiring diagrams in the bentley. AFAIK - the temp gauge is driven by the engine ECU, which is programmed to only show deviation from normal when things are very very abnormal (as someone at BMW's M division said "We show you what we want to show you..") I think the real answer is a secondary sender/gauge - if the wide fluctuations don't upset you.. also possible would be a computer readout device hooked to the diagnostics port - since you can read out the actual coolant temp on that port with a BMW specific code reader.
