Don't listen to him. :) -----Original Message----- 3 nuts holding the strut to the strut tower, 3 bolts plus a bolt/nut combo holding the strut to the hub. Done :-) Use a jack to support/hold the hub. I used new bolts for the strut/hub connection - you can reuse (maybe), but be sure to use red Loctite. New bolts have it already applied. I have tried high temp RTV that worked for a couple of weeks, but it came back. Any ideas on something that will withstand the ATF in the tranny? The new nylock top nut which fastens the top of the PSS9 strut to the camber plate is an M12. Per the Bilstein instructions the torque for an M12 should be 34 ft-lbs. This is important since the stock nut is an M14 - which would have a torque spec of 54 fit-lbs. All the other torques are the same as the ones for the stock parts. No speedo, tach, fuel or temp gauge. Any suggestions? Unless the transmission case is damaged, I would think a new crush washer torqued to the correct torque values should do it. I don't have any other guesses except maybe a new switch... You can initiate a self test of the actual gauges see below: http://www.unofficialbmw.com/repair_faqs/e36gauge.html That should tell you if the cluster itself is working, then you will need to try and see if the cluster is getting any signals. AFAIK, all instrument cluster signals are routed through the DME, I have schematics if you like I can scan them for you. One thing that worked for me for a little while is to disconnect the DME and clean the contacts but even that didn't make much of a difference after a while. Might have to go and try a new switch, but was hoping to find a quicker and cheaper solution. The switch looks fine as well as the mating surfaces. I am not sure why the high temp RTV did not work. Either I'm blind. stupid or both. I can't find them in the Bentley Book and the Digest search just bombed on me. TIA All greasy, typing on my laptop, during install of UUC lightweight Flywheel and M5 clutch kit. Short shifter didn't arrive as scheduled.
