Jeff -- I've followed Dave Zeckhausen's instructions here: http://zeckhausen.com/avoiding_brake_judder.htm which is to drive to/from the track [including Thunderhill for us] on your race pads. The car has been trouble free with zero "pulsing >pedal" judder issues. I swap pads as well, I thought by keeping both pads (same brand) I'd avoid the shudders but you can't, or I can't. I switch between HP+ and HT-10s. I bed in the HT-10s every time I'm about to go on the track but sometimes even that doesn't eliminate the shudders completely but after one session and the time to cool them off they do go away. A few times someone has crashed in the first few laps which really works out great for my brakes, do a few hot laps, get black flagged to remove said crasher, then go back out and my brakes feel great! :-) -Carlos 98 M3

My advice, from experience, is be very careful about swapping pads without swapping the rotors, even if the pads are the same manufacturer. This is especially true if the underlying compounds are different. I tried using a set of Carbotech track pads, XP-8 or 9, don't remember which without changing rotors after running Pagids for street pads. The car was almost undrivable at the track because the ceramic based pad material definitely did not play nicely with the street Pagid material. Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2006 09:58:33 -0500 From: "Goss, Patrick - PA" <Patrick.Goss@GMACM.COM> Subject: e36 M3 build numbers From our FAQ there were only 4535 M3 sedans built in 1997. I am curious to know if this is further detailed anywhere else by option, (manual, automatic, color or other outstanding options)? I am in a somewhat heated battle with a sub-par insurance company whose attempting to utilize generic parts for some simple parking damage when they were at fault. Despite the car being 9 years old I am looking for ammunition to back up my cause. This is IFA Ins. in New Jersey in case anyone else has horror stories with them they'd like to share... Patrick Goss 97 M3/4 w/ broken nose P.S. also looking for a good relatively local wholesaler of body parts, front panel, bumper cover etc, NJ, PA, DE or MD acceptable.

Hit the brakes hard in a couple heavy braking corners, and they'll settle in after a bit. Be prepared or some potentially nasty wheel shaking during the transition. Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2006 10:53:14 -0500 From: Steve Klein <s.klein@steveklein.cc> Subject: Headers for a '95 3.0 Hey, Group- Since I've got a head gasket replacement to do shortly and I understand removing the exhaust headers can be a chore, what is the current wisdom for replacement of the OBD1 3.0 headers on my 11/95 with 96+ OBDII? I've heard that the exh. manifolds on the '95s are a choke point (still stock exhaust, but I'm working my way bit by bit towards a twin screw), but which manifolds are the proper replacement? M model only? And what else will need to be modified? Will they bolt up to my existing down pipes? O2 sensor plugs/extensions? Thanks in advance, Steve
