#1. CD43 Business CD upgrade is great! - from Steve Sharp

Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2006 16:13:35 -0700 From: "Steve Sharp" <steve.sharp@xilinx.com> Subject: CD43 Business CD upgrade is great! Well, I'm another convert to the CD43 upgrade crowd. I got a unit off eBay at a pretty good price ($270 when most of them are going for high $300's or even over $400). It makes my standard (not Harmon-Kardon) system sound almost decent. The difference is especially noticable on FM stations where stock AM/FM cassette head unit was very mushy sounding and the CD43 has much better clarity and punch at both low end and highs. CD playback is better too, especially at higher volumes. Took all of 15 minutes to pull the old unit and install the new one. Could have been 10 min if I hadn't had to hunt down a different size hex key for the stock unit (compared to the 2.5mm hex key for the CD43) hold-down screws. Here's a hint for anyone looking for a unit: I found if you search eBay for "BMW Business CD Z3" or "BMW Business CD E36" you will find some listings you don't find by searching just "CD43". These other listing don't seem to get quite the level of attention, so the prices run a little lower. Overall, best $300 upgrade for this car (or any I've had) that I've seen. -Steve Los Gatos, CA

My windshield is shot, and the rubber at the bottom is coming off in chunks. I'm on my original windshield and it's a '95. I want to get a new window and make sure that I get a new bottom piece. I looked on realoem but can't find the part. The nearest I can find is #6 in this picture... But it doesn't show it as going across the bottom. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BF93&mospid=47486&btnr=51_ 2051&hg=51&fg=05 -- thx, Bob

Though I haven't dyno'd the 2 to compare, I think the car was faster before with the SS & Race pipe (mostly due to cat deletion combined with some possible tuning) than it is now. Definitely pulled a couple more MPH on some straights. For the previous poster, they aren't that difficult to install & fit pretty well, especially if you're pulling the head for a routine gasket replacement. Mine did require a little persuasion to line up the factory cats though. OBD1 exhaust manifolds are all the same, 325 or M3. Speaking of Cats, anybody have a center section with working Cats in So-Cal they want to part with for an e36 OBD1? -- Roger e36m3@bmw-m.net wrote: >"Chip E." <chip4bmw@yahoo.com> wrote: >There's a new(ish) equal length header for the E36 by Jet Hot. All, I'm replacing the serpentine & AC belts on my '97, and am trying to figure out p/ns for pulleys and tensioners (figure it's best to replace them preventatively while I'm in there.I understand from past digests that they tend to go spectacularly in the middle of nowhere). RealOEM shows a bunch of individual parts, but I'm not sure which ones need to be replaced. Anyone BTDT and have p/ns handy? Thanks, KC Boyce '97 M3 Crew Cab
