I'm planning a major suspension overhaul to include the following items: all 4 shocks & springs (Bilstein kit), front lower control arms (OEM) & offset busings (TMS), tie rods, rear lower control arm busings, reinforced upper rear shock tower mounts, trailing arm bushings, UUC swaybar kit. This M3 is my daily driver and will see 1-2 driver's schools a year. Am I missing any important items? Any suggestions on the most affordable way to source these parts? (I hope!). I ended up replacing the gasket and it seems like it fixed the problem. Replaced the gasket, filled her up last nite and no puddle. Woke up this morning, and no puddle. So it looks like i'm good to go. The sender unit I ended up not replacing because my old one looked fine. Plus if it does leak again, it's a pretty simple process to replace. A couple of questions for you all however. 1. When you unscrew the gas cap, do you hear the "vacuum escaping" sound? ('95 M3 if that matters) I don't hear this before or after I swapped out the gasket. Then again, maybe I didn't use enough fuel to really create a vacuum. 2. How tight should I make that ring (the one that holds down the gasket and the sender)? I could keep hammering at it to keep tighting it, but how tight should it be? I ended up hand tightening first, and then probably tightened it another 1" of turning with a hammer/screwdriver combo. Thanks! PS: sorry Jim, nothing exciting about my repair =P

And if you buy a used painted fender and the VIN is scratched off, chances are it came off a stolen car. :-o -Carlos (no personal experience with that)

Can either the DotR or vin sticker be peeled off? Has anybody ever tried it? My guess is its sorta designed to self destruct so as to prevent fraudently passing off a generic POS fender for an OEM one. I just QC'd my M at the body shop and pointed this out, want to make sure if I should push the issue further, or try to get the sticker off old fender. The shop is an approved bmw repair facility, and I am very confident they used bmw parts. They have an excellent reputation in the area. Its anal I know to ask for the sticker, but these are the things people look for being bmw fanatics like me. Right now the missing sticker is the only cue that cosmetic work was done. The manager said they have found Mercedes vin stickers for body panels in the past. Classic Coach in Ambler PA did a fantastic job, I paid a little extra to get the freckles and make the car perfect again, but well worth it!!! As flawless as after factory body work can be even dummying down the app of paint to match the factory's "hardly noticeable" orange peel, truly amazing work!!!!
