I've had 'em replaced on the M3 due to noise. Sorry Jim, you blew this one. <vbg> Brian's problem squeak/groan starts before he even starts the engine. This also excludes the ICV if you mean Idle Control Valve. The ICV affects your idle but since your engine is not running .... When you turn the key to the ON position, all you are doing is powering on all of the electrical devices and circuits. My guess is your HVAC blower motor is squeaking. Next time, turn your blower off (0 position), and then turn the ignition ON. See if you hear anything now. The engine noise may be drowning out the blower noise when the engine is running. #2. Supercharger whine w/o supercharger - from scrowl@austin.rr.com

Date: Fri, 18 Aug 2006 13:41:53 -0500 From: scrowl@austin.rr.com Subject: Supercharger whine w/o supercharger Hi all. My 95 has a whine that sounds similar to a supercharger. I thought it was a crack in the air intake system at first (air whistling through the crack), but it seems to be coming from under the valve covers. Any ideas? BTW: I installed the RE RSMs recently. They are very nice! Even though I don't plan to change rear shocks any time soon, I like not having to pull the trunk carpet when I do. Steve

Doh! Yeah, apparently I didn't read closely enough. Nevermind.... :-) Jim Bassett - out sick for 2 days this week with a cold; that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it :-)

All I can come up with is the fan clutch is stuck in the 'on' position so the fan is running at full lock all the time. but, it is over 100 deg. here (and where you are too, i think).. so.. maybe it thinks it needs to.. #7. Hats? - from dhogg

Date: Sat, 19 Aug 2006 10:04:11 -0400 From: "dhogg" <dhogg@suscom.net> Subject: Hats? OK, Ahmed has convinced me that I need to get some 96-98 front strut tower hats, install and swap them l-r on my 95 IS race car. This should let me do away with the shims and still give me better than the 3.0 degrees neg camber I've got now. Assuming that this is correct, where (besides the stealer) would one go about sourcing said hats? Anybody have a p/n? TIA Dave Hogg #20 IS SECOND at Summit Point to some unknown upstart rookie ; ^ )

Because when I had the hats swapped on the M3 it was about 2 - 2.5 degrees neg, IIRC. Just wondering. > Assuming that this is correct, where (besides the stealer) would one go > about sourcing said hats? Anybody have a p/n? TIA Might be able to locate "take offs" from someone who has upgraded? IIRC, they are called "guide supports": Left: 31 33 2 227 897 Right: 31 33 2 227 898 Jim Bassett - more questions than answers in this post, oh well :-) 1998 M3/4 - back to "normal" 1993 325is #44 JP - -3.5 F camber with plates & shims
