Paid about $100 for it when it first came out about two years ago with some Sears special discount / Craftsman special going on at the time. Great jack, think Sears realizes this as I notice the price keeps going up! She's my garage queen -- dressed in red you know ;-)) Remember this thread started out discussing the merits of a $59 1.5 ton jack! Most 2 ton aluminum jacks that I've seen are better quality. #4. VPD Valve Spring Compressor - from RFKoby@aol.com

Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2006 19:30:23 EDT From: RFKoby@aol.com Subject: VPD Valve Spring Compressor I did this on 3+ motors. Place and lock the engine at TDC cylinder #1. Remove the cams, cam trays, and lifters. Use leak down tester / compressed air to hold up the valves. Ensure that the cylinders hold pressure. Tap upper plate to relieve stiction, use VPD tool to compress springs, watch the pressure gauge to ensure that cylinders are maintaining pressure. Remove retainers, release springs....... replace whatever parts you want. compress springs, apply new retainers, release spring pressure. I did NOT rotate the motor during this process. Bob 95 M3 cam'd (sold) 94 325i M3 cams (trackcar) 95 M3 motor blown up, cams removed........ In a message dated 8/29/2006 6:07:20 P.M. A friend bought the VPD tool and has used it successfully on two engines with the heads in place. I don't know all the details, but after turning the engine to TDC on that cylinder, you can then use a compression leakdown test adapter to pressurize the cylinder and keep the valves closed. In any case, as I understand it the piston-to-valve clearance is small enough that even if you lose air pressure the valve doesn't drop far and can be pulled up again from above. Anyone confirm that?

Much better looking unit, IMHO. I don't know if that means it will be safer or stronger, however. HF jack failed by scissoring sideways one day at the track. It had seen 3 years of use at the track and in my garage when it failed. I always used it on the most level surface available but you're limited at the track. Have never had a problem and been happy with the weight and performance of the piece. However, I've recently begun thinking about getting another lightweight jack and am considering another HF lightweight jack but at the same time, found a jack available at a shop called Stable Energies not too far from my home called the Brunnhoelzl Warrior jack. It is $600 but it's a 6 pump jack that weighs 32 lbs. and I've checked out Brunnhoelzl's website and it looks like a serious piece of kit. Anyone ever heard or considered this particular jack?

The "seller" has their Private Message and E-mail turned off for their account. Wouldn't you want people to be able to contact you about the car you have for sale? Never answers questions about the car in the forums. Initially posted it for sale last week as a 1999 M3 Sedan. It failed to sell the first time with an offer of $23.5K, it will be interesting to see how high it makes it this time. Rex
