The diff and its cover mount to the rear subframe via rubber bushings, two on the cover and one on the case itself. These bushings are already prone to tearing, and supporting half the weight of the car on them sure isn't going to help. Jack on the rear subframe loop under the diff instead. #6. HVAC fan not working - from K.C. Boyce
Top
Date: Tue, 5 Sep 2006 11:47:53 -0400 From: "K.C. Boyce" <k_boyce@e30eta.com> Subject: HVAC fan not working Gruppe, I suffered a drive from NC to GA this weekend with no working HVAC fan. I've done some playing around and wanted to get the group's wisdom before buying parts. - Doesn't seem to be the classic failing control unit. The display still works correctly and the fan speed indicator goes up and down depending on how hot it is. - Unplugged the control unit this morning and got.nothing. Supposedly disconnecting the control unit is supposed to make the fan default to high speed. So.I'm thinking the issue is with the resistor pack. Sound good? One more curious thing is that the failure happened after I had shut off the climate control for a while (had the windows open in the mountains). This had happened once before but the problem fixed itself after turning the car off and back on again. Any thoughts on causation/correlation here? Or is it just random coincidence? TIA, K.C. #8. Electrical schematic for horn - from John

Date: Tue, 5 Sep 2006 14:49:34 -0700 (PDT) From: John <m3john@yahoo.com> Subject: Electrical schematic for horn Hello All, I installed my microfilter this weekend and had to take the glove box out. Today during lunch this one idiot was rushing to find a parking space and rear-ended me (well a small bump). I saw it coming and try to honk the horn but to my surprise the horn doesn't work. I must have loosen some electrical connections in the back of the glove box while trying to install the microfilter for a 98 E36 M3. Does anyone have a schematic/electrical layout of the horn connection that can help me? I hate to dis-assembly the glove box and then still cannot find the problem. #10. RTAB limiter kits - from Brian Ruiz
Top
Date: Tue, 5 Sep 2006 18:24:31 -0700 From: "Brian Ruiz" <eurowerke@gmail.com> Subject: RTAB limiter kits Hey all, I think it's time to replace the RTABs in the M3, as I do not believe they have ever been changed, and the car is at 102k now. I also got a weird noise a couple months back when I would back up quickly...i.e. there was a clicking noise as I would back up which wouldn't occur when I would drive forward. There's also some very mild vibrations and such that I am getting occasionally. My question was regarding the trailing arm bushing limiter kits sold by the various retailers. I had purchased the Turner aluminum bushing limiter kit back when I had my E36 325 but I never got around to installing it before I lost the car. I was wondering, however, if the newer delrin versions of the limiter kits would be better suited for a mainly hard-driven street car (with perhaps a couple DEs in the future), or if there is really no difference between the aluminum Turner version and the various delrin versions in either durability or suitability. Thanks, Brian build 8/95
