But they are very close. Your wheels are 1/2 narrower which should help, but they are 4mm more to the outside. You can probably get them to work with camber & ride height changes. That's what I did to get my 265/35-18's to fit on an 18x9" wheel under the stock (rolled) fenders. I've read a few reviews that this tires absolutely sucks in the wet. So if you're planning on using it as a street tire, I might reconsider. Right now, I have the Hankook Ventus whatevers on the Elise and they're only grippy when warmed up. Cold, the blow chunks. I might have to try those Bridgestone RE10R (or whatever they're called) next. The POS daily beater (aka M3) has PS2s on right now. The sidewalls are brown...can't even look at it. Ugh. I had multiple sets of RT-615 on my 1996 M3. IMHO, they are the best value dry tire out there. In the wet, while they are no Goodyear F1 GS-D3 or Bridgestone S-02 Pole Position (Yes, S-02), I have been very impressed how well they handle in pouring rain. About on par with a Michelin Pilot Sport. Rex

There does seem to be a consensus that they're unusually sensitive to inflation pressures and lots of people have difficulty getting that right. (However I have no idea what right is for the PSC.) Another possible track tire option about which I'm curious is Hankook, see: <http://www.frisbyracetire.com/hankookracetires.html> They're available in a variety of sizes and compounds. Anyone tried 'em? Personally I'm pretty happy with the RA-1 for normal DE use. They grip decently and last acceptably, and as long as there's some tread left they're great in the rain. I've been using the 235/40-17 size RA-1, but now that I've got a set of 8.5" Koseis to supplement my existing 8" track wheels I'd like to try the 255 section width version. Hmmm, do they clear the fenders? Neil Fort Wayne, IN 96 M3 - Bastard child 03 525iT - Sterling Grey Metallic 05 Mini - Cooper S with LSD

The OE sports were the best street use spring out of the three. the spring rate is roughly the same as the Sport but slightly higher ride height. My car was the same with the OE sports as the stock BMW M springs. The Sports were slightly lower, the back was too low vs. the front so I shimmed the rears up some to make it look better. Ride suffered. not too badly but enough that the OE is a better daily choice. Race. Stiff.. and low as piss...My X brace would bottom out and I had to be extremely careful with the front spoiler extensions (velocity splitters) Ripped one set right off....Too low for the street especially if you have steep driveways and speed bumps. Higher spring rates than Sport, but still could be stiffer for the track. I have coilover conversions on the car now 550lb fr/630lb rr. With the ride set between OE sport and Sport. Yes, but some rolling will most likely be required. MarkD runs the 255 RA-1s on his race car occasionally. Yup. Some fender rolling required but I'm not sure how much since I rolled them to accommodate the Kumho V700s in 255/40-17 primarily. Either way, not a dramatic amount.
