#2. Euro light upgrade complete - from Russ Doucet
Top
Date: Mon, 18 Sep 2006 12:01:32 -0400 From: "Russ Doucet" <russ@russdoucet.com> Subject: Euro light upgrade complete Thanks for the advice, those that contributed. The Euro lights are now installed and look great. We elected in the end to power the city light bulb from the turn signal (parking light) power by splicing a lead in to it. We used a cable from a PC power supply lead for a hard drive or cdrom actually, just had to spread the connector a little. I put Sylvania Silverstars in the low beam pots. I had to move the alarm horn down into the bumper because the Euro lights project farther back into the engine bay, and the harness was pretty tight on the intake side too, but it all fit. My pinouts were: Upper pin: Ground (common black wire on both input connectors for low/high beam) Lower pin: Low beam Left hand pin: City lights Right hand pin: High Beam. But we verified them each time with a multimeter before final installation. No real problems other than the time taken to fabricate the leads we need. Any market for used US plastic lights with significant pitting? :-) -Russ.

Check the Red Line web site? http://redlineoil.com/dealers.asp I don't know any places in that area, but know a couple in the East Bay (Monument Auto Parts - several locations, and CarQuest - also several locations). Quick drive last night, they sure seemed bright, but my aim was off so badly I only went around the block once. If there was more light over stock the light color made it less useful as they tend toward blue. Honestly, I find the stockish yellowish lights to provide more illumination even if they've got lower candle power output. Gus
