I have yet to install them, but when you do, do you mind making note of any troubles or ways to make the install go easier? I'm terrified of hacking/modifying wires (why I DIDN'T become an EE :) ) so any help is appreciated. Quickly reading the install instructions, they don't thread into the speaker grill like the stock HKs, so we have to hot glue them in place. We also have crimp some new (supplied) connectors to mate with the new speakers. Thanks in advance! Drive Safely, Raza

I put a 8" powered bazooka in the trunk or our '95 (also changed the HU and added Sirius...) and its gotta be the best $110 I have ever spent on any car audio equipment. It really makes a huge difference, is light weight, and easily removed. I would highly suggest it if you want a little bass. Even when I had the stock speakers the system sounded pretty decent with the bazooka installed. Dave

Is this the time to go to shorty headers or would I be well advised to just replace the header with another stock or should I try and drill the studs out of the header, replace them and reinstall it? Things to think about: The original studs are available as (very expensive, ~$20 each) replacement bolts, see: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BG93&mospid=47488&btnr=11_ 1470&hg=11&fg=50> They're made of some kind of unusually heavy, dense alloy (Inconel? Unobtanium?) which suggests that the original studs may not be at all easy to drill out. You might want to use a cobalt drill bit intended for hardened steel. Shorty headers are extraordinarily difficult to install on an OBD-II engine with the head in place. The bends in some of the pipes block ready access to the nuts, and the secondary air injection manifold just makes the whole thing even worse. I'm also skeptical about the benefits of headers unless the rest of the engine's breathing is also substantially modified. If necessary you can probably pick up a take-off stock manifold for small money. Still not all that easy to install, but certainly doable. True. But if you choose an impact driver (or are really aggressive with a hammer), take a few minutes and remove the regulating O2 sensors first. The heater elements in them don’t like that much vibration. BTDT; replaced the O2 sensors afterwards. The two studs, which were striped, not broken, were replaced with a grade 10.9 bolt-washer-nut combo, primarily to get the job finished and the car back on the ground. I know it will be a pain the next time I take the exhaust apart since those two bolts will require a wrench on the head of the bolt in addition to the socket, with multiple extensions, on the nut. If you have the lead time, order the studs… - David
