#4. UUC Corsa - from Alan Leung
Top
Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2006 16:56:54 -0500 From: "Alan Leung" <alanleung100@hotmail.com> Subject: UUC Corsa To elaborate on what others have already mentioned, you want new rubber mounts and hangers, especially if your stock exhaust has never come off. Plan on another $100 for these parts (yikes). Be careful when removing the rubber mounts as they are mounted on studs coming out from the body of the car and not easily replaceable if you snap one off. I also put plenty of antiseize on the bolts that connect the cat to the exhaust. It's a rather straightforward 2-person job, but can be accomplished with one if you put a jack under the muffler. The stock one is quite heavy. Alan _________________________________________________________________ Use your PC to make calls at very low rates https://voiceoam.pcs.v2s.live.com/partnerredirect.aspx

#5. 255/35/18 street tire, maybe another size? - from Goss, Patrick - PA

Date: Wed, 25 Oct 2006 10:30:46 -0500 From: "Goss, Patrick - PA" <Patrick.Goss@GMACM.COM> Subject: 255/35/18 street tire, maybe another size? Having run and successfully fit 255/40/17 using 17x9 forgelines, heavy camber front & 5mm spacer, max stock camber rear and fender rolling. The 255/40/17 RT615 in real world term specs to 25" tall by 10.3" wide, (close to stock height and a decent bit wider). Is there anything in an 18 tyre that is close in size, which doe not break the bank. The RT615 is an economical choice in the 255/40/17 so you don't mind beating it up auto-xing. As far as I can tell the 255/35/18 is a close size to this and certainly not avail in the RT615, or anything close to economical in less than a 200 treadwear rating. Am I missing a tire brand other than kumho, (which I would not consider BTW)? Seems in most 18 sizes you compromise width and increase cost. I can't see that many would want to go much shorter and risk bending rims. I have to be missing something. Patrick Goss 97 M3/4 - Just thinking about 18's

#6. M3 Steering Issue - from Mark D.

Date: Wed, 25 Oct 2006 12:17:59 -0400 From: "Mark D." <mdlkml@atari-source.com> Subject: M3 Steering Issue Hey guys, I was wondering if I could have some of the collective wisdom of the group. I have a mature M3 (180K) that's developed a very odd quirk that my mechanic and I are having trouble locating the source of. Basically the steering is really finicky. When you drive down the road, if the road is slightly uneven like say where there's lots of cars and the road has worn little dips, the dips will pull on the steering a lot - to the effect that you could be driving down the road, holding the wheel straight, and the car is bouncing left and right. At one point on this really bad highway in NJ, it just yanked the steering wheel right out of my hand and sent me heading towards a wall at 55mph! The issue seemed to start shortly after I replaced my front control arm bushings. But the issue is different from those. CAB's will cause pulling under braking, rears under acceleration. I'm thinking it simply must be a balljoint or 3, tie rod ends, tie rods, rack, etc. I'm so fed up, I'm about to replace it all. Leaking steering hoses, rack, tie rods, ends, etc. The whole shebang. Can anyone say "this sounds *exactly* like when I had to replace ..." Thanks again, Mark
