I mean the whole thing from headers back, not just a cat-back swap? I'm interested to see what someone may have done about the O2 sensor swap. Thanks, --- Larry

You will need to have somone weld the secondary air injection ports closed and either install plugs in the O2 ports or have them welded shut as well. I bought some "Hooker Header Plugs" from my local NAPA which fit perfectly. -- Jamie Howton 2006 M Roadster 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL

Another FWIW, I've used Safelite for race car 'shields, and have been satisfied with them. But the PPG 'shield on the M3 has held up pretty well to the daily-driving impacts (small chips in the glass but no cracks, spiderwebs, etc <knock on wood>). There are enough of those, though, that I'll be looking at getting a new one soon. > With that being said, any recommendations on who I can get to install > PPG glass into my car at a reasonable rate? I don't have a current suggestion. The last one I put on the M3 several years ago, was done by Silicon Valley Auto Glass in S. San Jose, IIRC. Yellow Pages time, I suspect :-) Cheers, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP

You are right, Hankook does indeed have a 265/35/18, their R-S2 z212 might be too big at 25.3 x 10.7, as well as their sport K104 in 255 and 265 (1/10 less on height and width) tad smaller spec'd but probably in an entirely different perf level as far as I can tell on paper. If only the RT615 was a little bit smaller in 265/35 (25.4x10.7) its out anyway as it's not approved on anything smaller than a 9.5 wheel, and actually most choices don't go below 9" Patrick -----Original Message----- From: Gary [mailto:probikeguy@probikeusa.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 25, 2006 5:58 PM To: E36M3 Subject: Re: [E36M3] 255/35/18 street tire, maybe another size? Costs a bunch more to play harder it seems....$284(TR) for that 265/35 tire ouch! I was upset at $242 for the RE50 in 255/35 which is same in height and just a hair skinnier. That's it, I'm starting a petition with falken for an rt615 in the right size a la 18" flavor. You are right, going from 17 to 18 I'd be putting on weight. Thanks for the information!! In autox, the introduction of the Hoosier 285/30-18 is what pushed most people off the 245/40-17. In street tire autox the Yokohama ADVAN Neova 265/35-18 has been used on a number of successful SCCA STU cars. I personally like the 255/40-17 RT-615 because it is cheap, durable, is (as/almost as) fast as the Yokohama and I didn't have to raise my car to get it to fit. I have a set on my daily driver Mazda 6 Wagon too, and they look they are going to make it 25K street miles. #10. autox in the cold -- tire pressures - from Steven Hazard
Top
Date: Thu, 26 Oct 2006 18:21:13 -0400 From: "Steven Hazard" <98M3@comcast.net> Subject: autox in the cold -- tire pressures Hell Bob, If he's on VictoRacers who cares? Those are 5+ year old tires and both the Current Kumho and Hoosier offerings are way faster. The internal construction of the tire would dictate TP. Since I haven't been on these tires since 2001 I would guess lower TP's would be the way to go. All these aftermarket DOT R compound tires don't have to worry about ride quality so they have extremely stiff sidewall construction. Lowering TP for the most part increases tire wear, but allows for a larger contact patch and quicker heat cycling.... Steve Date: Wed, 25 Oct 2006 23:35:07 -0400 From: mdriver13@aol.com Subject: autox in the cold -- tire pressures Hi Group, I have a friend that just finished an autox last weekend in cold weather conditions. He runs Kumho VictoRacers and his question to me was; should he run lower or higher than normal pressures to bring back some grip, especially for the first run. Any advice would help. My first thought would be to raise tire pressure, but I can see lower to warm up the tires faster. So I'm asking the collective group. Thanks in advance, Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA 2005 Philly Region BSP Champion
