Will consume trunk space. Won't improve shock tower > reinforcement compared to the simple plates. Trust me when I say replace them with the upgraded part. I replaced my rear shock mounts because they started getting a bit noisy. Weeks later I hear all sorts of noise to find cracking and tearing on BOTH sides necessitating a costly plate replacement (which honestly was quite cheap at $750). In addition to this, I of course spent the $100 on the GC street and track RSM's and shims. I think the RE kit looks even better though. Anyone still out there with standard rear shock mounts and no reinforcement plates to save a $70 or so is a total fool. That's my opinion on that :-P I can only hope this causes some people to act now so they don't have to go through what I went through with this. Thanks, Mark

Date: Wed, 1 Nov 2006 11:57:50 -0800 (PST) From: David Ngo <rudngo@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Re: Front Strut tower deformation I can confirm that you should still use the reinforcement plates even with the TCKline camber plates. I had the TCKline pieces and they started to damage the shock towers on my car. I talked with Pete also and sent him pictures - the deformations matched the form of the camber plates exactly. With the reinforcements, the damage stopped getting worse. I was a bit concerned about losing the plates but Pete at TCK said it hadn't been a problem on anything he knew of (including race cars). >> Actually.... They do fit and I have them with my TCK camber plates. A couple of suspension versions before my current setup I tried running the camber plates with stock strut housings and H&R springs and I ended up with the beginnings of some strut tower damage on my dual-duty M3. I then added the stock reinforcement plates back and had no further issues. I recently went to the TCK D/A coilovers with their camber plates again and am using the reinforcement plates again, and they fit and function perfectly fine. #7. Strange trouble with brakes - from Jeff Johnston
Top
Date: Wed, 01 Nov 2006 17:30:10 -0500 From: Jeff Johnston <jjohnsto@intersil.com> Subject: Strange trouble with brakes Last time at the track, I had a couple strange brake problems. The first issue was a grabbing of the brakes with light pedal pressure. It happened once that I can remember. The second issue occurred when I was braking from ~110 mph to 35 for a slow corner. Just before turn in, but while still having the brakes fully applied, the car just stopped braking. I lifted the pedal and then reapplied and all was fine. I drove a couple of more laps slowly, nothing happened but I called it a day. Since then, I have verified that there was no problems with calipers, pads or fluid. The pads are HT-10 front and SpecVR rears. I took the car to my mechanic and he read a code 50 from the ABS control unit. He says that this means 'throttle valve actuator is mechanically faulty'. His interpretation is that the ABS and traction control (ASC+T?) are fighting. The car is a 99 M3 with PSS9 coilovers. Does anyone have any insight into this problem? Is it possible to fully disable the traction control? Should I replace the throttle valve actuator? Thanks Jeff

From my experience those pads with stock brakes require an excessive amount of pedal pressure sometimes. I have been able to fade them too although they come back quickly if you get off them a bit. -- Jamie Howton 2006 M Roadster 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL
