I did come across that "kit" on bimmerforums, but have a concern in regards to the clamping power of the basic worm gear clamps in that kit. I would think that BMW used a crimp clamp on the high pressure line, because a std worm gear clamp might not be stout enough. I did locate a few vendors who sell 5/8" wide, 8-tooth worm gear clamps that have a much higher clamping force. I decided to take it to the next level and came across the Aeroquip fittings. Apparently these fittings are quite popular with engine builders. Grant Fairweather 98 M3/4

These last very well, have good grip, but were discontinued due to a change in strategy - basically Hankook has decided to go after Hoosier with a super grippy DOT-R. These are available in 235/40-17 for M3 fitment - no other really great sizes left. Email if interested! I don't know if it's still a mechanical connection or an electric one in the OBD II cars, but in my old 93 325, it was electrical, in my current 95 M3, it's mechanical. In my M3, the heat was the same, it wouldn't blow warm ONLY out of the main center vent, but it was warm out of the defrost and footwell vents. Check that condition in the car; if it is similar (again, I don't know how the OBD II a/c controls are set up to work) you're most likely looking at the same thing with the rotary knob not being connected. Take a look at this pic I snapped of the connection in my M3 (it's dark, but you can see what the connection and cable look like): http://www.brianruiz.net/e36/images/heatercable.jpg HTH, Brian build 8/95 On 11/8/06, James Clay <james@bimmerworld.com> wrote: > > Date: Wed, 8 Nov 2006 09:32:17 -0500 > From: "James Clay" <james@bimmerworld.com> > Subject: Heater question > > I am not a heat/AC guy, so any comments? Date: Wed, 8 Nov 2006 15:16:38 -0600 From: "Jamie Howton" <jhowton@gmail.com> Subject: [OT] - FS, 2000 M5 Black/Caramel, 93K miles, Chicago I just purchased a 2004 645Ci and am trading in my 00 M5. After much negotiation I ended up at $18500 as the trade in amount. I am picking up the car on Friday so if anyone is looking for a car for not much money I will take anything over $18,500 if the deal can be closed quickly. My car has the following mods and is in fantastic condition for the mileage: Tubi Exhaust Rogue Octane SSK w/WSR Widescreen Nav with DVD Dension Ice link+ New Koni SA shocks Powerchip 93+ Gold Software Homelink V1 Hardwire Recently installed: New BMW windshield New Driveshaft New Front control arms upper and lower Rear balljoints MAFS x 2 Left Vanos and Intake CPS New cats x2 last year Car runs very well and is up to date in all of its service. http://www.howton.net/2000_m5.htm I was rear-ended in 2005 but the car was repaired to like new condition by Patrick BMW collision center. Anyway, like I said, I've got until Friday so move fast if you are interested. I am going to start removing the Nav and Icelink tonight and putting the stock wheels back on. I will not be parting out much more than that I just don't have the time. I am in NW Burbs of chicago, but am in the city every day. It hasn't been the most maintenance free car I have owned but it is the best car I have owned in terms of performance. -- Jamie Howton 2006 M Roadster 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL
