Still here once in a while.. not really attentive so if you want to REALLY know something, copy me on your message to the group. I have the full-boat AE BMW module. Don't have an E36 to test it on anymore. The version I have does all the diagnostics via the OBD-II connector, and will probably need a different adaptor to work with cars having the underhood 20 pin connector. What does it do that the standard doesn't? The standard AE tool does the engine diagnostics - and does standard OBD-II and BMW specific diagnostics. It does some component actuation on the engine. The advanced program does everything else - ABS/DSC/ASC, LCM (Light-Control-Module), SRS (airbags), ZKE (theft), instrument cluster, etc.. etc.. If you figure the extra cost of it vs say a Peake SRS code reader and the Peake engine code reader - it's a bargain, and as was stated - Jay gives excellent support and free upgrades (which I've been receiving as I've discovered a few bugs in the E46/M3 implementations..) I suggest you contact AE - and Jay specifically to see what it provides for the E36 M3 cars. I believe their is a spreadsheet on their website listing all the capabilities by model.. but for specifics Jay is the guy to talk to. > > Jay sells on ebay in addition to direct through his > > website. You can get $50 off using the eBay route. Yup. If so, then I haven't had the same experience that you've had. I start them on my '02 M3 at the track at 38F/37R cold, but that's too high. I just keep dropping pressure until I get the desired roll on the tire (try less than 35psi cold to start). I have found them to be progressive on break away with a similar feel to Toyo RA-1s with no sharp surprises (and similar grip levels). I've run them only on tracks at driving schools, so ymmv. I had to break out the winter track shoes today at the Buttonwillow club race (to paraphrase System of a Down -- where the $%^& were you?). Full tread depth RA-1s in 235/40/17 (instead of well worn 255/40/17 RA-1s)! Now, I took them out of the bags and got the pressures right, but then decided that the slight sprinkling we 'endured' <the humanity> wasn't enough to really need to use them. I've done it and was perhas the first to do it. I used the E39M5 inserts, a different slip ring and since I have an Alpine head unit, I used one of the learning modules to control it via infrared. The factory radio doesn't understand i-bus, but if you replace it with a BMW traffic pro, you can get everything to work together since the steering wheel controls put out i-bus. Chester --- "K.C.
