Date: Sun, 12 Nov 2006 17:03:43 -0500 From: Jay Kenty <jaykenty@cox.net> Subject: <E36M3>Winter Wheels/Tires For Sale Well, I've sold my '97 M3 Coupe (I had one extra BMW, couldn't generate any serious interest in my 525i 5-speed, so had to sell the fun car), so now I am selling a winter setup that I used with great success on the '97 M3. Text of ad on Boston Bimmer site (http://www.boston-bmwcca.org/bimmer/classified.aspx) follows: "Four E36 3-series '92-'99 (includes M3) Alloy Wheels and Snow Tires. Wheels are clean Borbet Type H Euro (Google for pics) 7.5J x 16H2, ET40 mm offset. Tires are Michelin Pilot Alpin 225/50 R16 with at least 2 seasons left on them. Includes bolts, Borbet center caps, and 5mm wheel spacers (may be needed for your M3 front hubs if your M3 brakes are new). These wheels and tires are the ones shown on the M3 in the banner at the head of the Bostom Bimmer website Classified Ads page (my car). $450 for all. In RI. Up here in the monsoon effected PNW, I only put the RA-1s away when there is standing water on the track. Otherwise, I've found the RA-1s to be superior to street tires, and quite capable even without useful tread showing. Therefore, I've never had occasion to run on full tread RA-1s (excepting one time I borrowed some for 2 laps before my power steering line failed). Not sure why you would want to have them except if you're a full on racer - from what I understand they squirm terribly and wear out just as fast as the shaved units. They do not tell nor provide technical information or spare parts (extra hardware) for this purpose. Apparently, the hardware is considered one-time use bolts. Similarly, Fikse's must be assembled EXACTLY the same way they came apart. Rim halves MUST match barrels which MUST match bolt hole locations. Regarding your BBS wheels, try wheelcollision.com. They did a great job repairing some BBS LMs for us.
