A friend and I both installed them and he had troubles when the brakes got hot at the race track. I thought I had the same problem and I removed them from the front and reinstalled the stock pistons. However, I still experienced the same braking problems on the track, so I don’t think it was the pistons. #4. Alternator change - from Robert Exconde

Date: Sun, 19 Nov 2006 22:18:16 -0600 From: "Robert Exconde" <99e36m3@exconde.com> Subject: Alternator change How easy/hard is it to change the alternator on the M3 (99)? In the past couple months my alternator, as far as I can tell, has gotten noisy and its rather unsettling. Second, the buzzer when I leave my keys in the ignition and have my hazard lights on seems quite weak as in its too short, the console fades in sync, and my phone doenst want to seem to charge any longer from the cigarett lighter. These all seem to indicate an electrical problem. The battery is about 3 years old with 75000 miles I think Thanks for any advice, Robert 99M3 156K miles -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Simple electrical tests are much easier than changing the alternator, and will only take about 5 minutes. Check the voltage at the battery terminals with the car running and with it stopped. Dave

Ended up buying 6 brand new coils -- found a great deal on a brand new set that hadn't been used, too good to pass up. Hopefully this fixes my problem, if not, I'll post more updates :-) Have a great Thanksgiving everyone! ted 1997 Estoril M3/4

#7. ACS Carbon Lip - from Seth Thomas
Top
Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2006 11:07:17 -0500 From: "Seth Thomas" <porsche993@mindspring.com> Subject: ACS Carbon Lip Hey guys. I am having a batch of replicas made of the AC Schnitzer Carbon front lip for the E36 M3 made up in the next month. This piece will be made from 100% carbon fiber by the same guy who does the carbon on BimmerWorld's E90 World Challenge cars, PTGs BMWs and several other race teams. These will be just like the original ACS piece except they will be made entirely out of carbon fiber. The original ACS lip is currently NLA and double the price of these. This will not be a cheap Ebay type replica with 1-layer of carbon over plastic or fiberglass. The replica will bolt right up to the stock M3 front bumper with no modifications to the front bumper. Install should be a quick 30 minute 2 beer job. Here are some quick pictures of a similar piece on the front of a couple M3s. Production of the piece starts this week and I will have pictures of the actual piece you guys will be buying sometime next week. www.seththomas.net/acs_carbon/acs.jpg www.seththomas.net/acs_carbon/acs3.jpg www.seththomas.net/images/cars/98_m3/DSC_5853.jpg The cost of the original ACS piece was around $950. I am getting these made for $425. The first batch will be 10 pieces unless we can get some more people in on this. I currently have 5 sold. The price of this piece is at my cost to produce these. I am not making money on it and don't plan to as I just want to recoup my cost for making the one ACS piece that I have always like for the E36 M3. Email me privately if you are interested.
