They can usually get parts in 5-7 days if they're shipped from Europe. If it's in the US warehouse I'll have it the same or next day. I've been surprised how many euro parts are available from the US warehouse. I wonder if I have some other problem that is exaggerating this condition. The idle circuit may be compensating for a vacuum leak, bad 02 sensor, etc. Anyone ever get the dealer fix mentioned in JC's post? Will they do this for free? I can only imagine how a dealer would react if I showed up asking for this update... Anyone know if the present version of his chip addresses this issue? Thanks. Any dealer can order Euro parts, although you may have to hold the counter guy's hand to select the Euro model option in the parts system, since many have never done that and don't know how. I ordered one several years ago from The BMW Store in Cincinnati. The 325td fan p/n is 11-52-2-243-303. It gives extra clearance to the radiator but makes a bit of a GM van wheezing noise. It is a very slight roughness, been there for the short time I have owned the car (2 yrs) and has not changed over that time. Just seems odd to me compared to other E36's I have experience with...they seem to be perfectly smooth at idle. Maybe I will grab a couple of coils for testing purposes next time I visit the bone yard. Has it always had the slight hiccup? - I vaguely remember 14 years ago when I bought my M3 I complained that the M3 idled rougher than my I6 Supra motor did (an 85) and rougher than my then girlfriend's 325is. Cam aggressiveness has an effect on idle smoothness. You should sit in my car now - well it idles at 1500 rpm, anything lower than that and it won't run. But that's what I get for putting Hell my CTS-V has a very lumpy idle compared to the 540. If it's a very slight roughness it could just be normal if it's always been there. If it's new then I'd worry about the coils. Date: Tue, 21 Nov 2006 19:56:24 EST From: Shelhart2@aol.com Subject: Back to the E36 - questions Craig bought my 2004 M3 and I now I'm back to my roots! I now have posession of a 1995 Hellrot coupe. It has all the aftermarket goodies including AA exhaust, Motorsport brace, x brace, aftermarket suspension and springs, stainless headers, LTW flywheel, 21 Lb injectors, Conforti intake, etc. I have to say I missed the E36. A couple problems so far: 1. When warm the idle hunts between 500 and 1.2k rpms until stabalized. Do the idle control valves get tired or might it simply be all the mods? Where's the best place to start? 2. On the conforti intake, can I just use the K&N filter cleaner and oil on the foam ITG filter? 3. Mobil 1 10W30 still work best for this engine (Florida climate)? 4. Need to find used black 95 door panels in excellent condition. It has the HK midrange and tweeter in the door. Anyone have a set? The ones in there are starting to peel away from the backing. It's nice to be back in the E36. The E46 was a very refined vehicle and had great performance but the car always felt heavy and not as responsive. I suppose we loose the connection to the road in each more modern version. Shel Hart
