Chiming in late, but: When installing a CAI on a friend's 325i some while back we drilled through the side of the CAI for the t'stat body and its mounting flange hole, then used a small bolt and large washer to secure it with the probe sticking inward. Pick a location and orientation so that the hoses don't kink. Cost and effort are negligible and the t'stat's intended function is preserved. Why make the whole thing harder than it needs to be? #3. 95 M3 rattle when RPMs come down - from Mpower
Top
Date: Thu, 23 Nov 2006 15:01:32 -0800 From: Mpower <mpower@obikwan.com> Subject: 95 M3 rattle when RPMs come down All, I just put in a JC/Turner chip into my '95 M3. I took the car around for a spin to see how she would feel after installation of the chip. (feels good). However, on the drive back, I noticed a rattling noise that was coming from the front of the car. Blip the throttle (not in gear), and when the revs come down it rattles. Opened up the hood, and blipped the throttle from the throttle body, and I can hear it. It's coming from the front of the valve cover. Where the VANOs unit is I believe. It doesn't matter if I blip the throttle up to 3k or just a tap to 1k, when the revs drop it rattle right before the car is going to idle RPM. I did some searching and everyone has different ideas of what this might be. Is this a VANOs issue or a timing chain tensioner issuer? If it's the tensioner, which one? The primary or the secondary? (hoping it's the primary as that's the easiest to replace!) Most importantly, will this hurt the car to drive it? Any help/input would be appreciated! Thanks -kelvin ________________________________________________ Message sent using UebiMiau 2.7.9

The guy at Umnitza tried a couple of times to spam the GGC chapter announcement email list. We blocked it, of course, but it certainly didn't encourage us to buy anything from him. - Mark ----- mark@pdc-racing.net Check out my JustRacing Home Page at: http://www.justracing.com/homepage/mdadgar

Anytime someone sent an email back to the reflection Umnitza account it was reflected back to the entire list, so those fools that kept replying with notes like "stop spamming me" were actually spamming themselves and everyone else on Umnitza's list. The email list should have probably done a better job at handling these exceptions but unless Matt (Umnitza) set this up himself, it is probably his service provider that is to blame. Personally, I don't hold Matt responsible for this, but he should go through and remove all the people from his list that asked to be removed. Being an IT guy for almost 15 years, (oh that sounds horrid) I know from personal experience many of these pitfalls that can befall "users".
