In addition to the engine and transmission, we've found seats, suspension, a cage, BBK, 5-lug set up, etc. One area where we're lacking though are engine upgrades. We'd like to install new cams (including the associated items: CAI, HFM, injectors, etc). Does anyone have these items that they're looking to sell? If so, please drop me a line. Date: Wed, 13 Dec 2006 10:07:58 -0500 From: "Mike DePolo" <smiked1@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] off idle response I thought I'd check in and let everyone know I have fixed this problem. I was getting typical a/c tensioner pulley noise, and eventually developed a slight howling sound around the alternator. I decided to replace both tensioner pulleys and alternator idler pulley. An amazing amount of odd sounds disappeared from the car after this: slight rattle with clutch in, what I thought was timing chain noise at start up, very occasional squeal at start up...to name a few. All of these noises were very subtle, but always bothered me. Now the car is dead quite. The other major thing that happened, to my surprise, is that this odd off idle behavior has almost completely disappeared. The idle is much smoother and car also revs much more freely The RPM's now drop almost 3x faster than before. It almost feels like I've installed a lightweight flywheel. It even took me a few days to get my shifting back on point with the new free revving behavior. It didn't start making a real noticeable belt noise until the day before I changed these pulleys out, but the bearings in all the pulleys were in really bad shape. This is one of the best repairs I've done to the car yet. You may want to try this before jumping into a lightweight flywheel. I wouldn't recommend used Konis, there's a good reason someone is getting rid of them. I've gotten burned both buying them and selling them when 1 or 2 of 4 dampers doesn't work anymore. Same thing with ADs unless you know you're going to send them in for a rebuild anyway. About the only shocks that I'd buy used are Bilsteins since they seem to last (almost) forever. Carlos 98 M3 on new tckline Koni coilovers 89 325i getting used Bilsteins :-)
