In order for you to get 789 on the trip and the other mileage to work out to 123456, you have to hit the reset at 122667. I'll try to remember that for the Elise...lol! ...if I'm not left just holding a steering wheel at that mileage. After getting that data form Jeff and Jamie (thanks gents!), I see that the CTS-V may not be that bad off. I understand that the person you sold it too have to get the Lemon Law in effect but it sounds like some of these M5s would also apply??? I mean, how much can you considered maintenance? $8 - $10K maintenance on a car THAT expensive would classified a LEMON to me! I would totally agree with Scott that the Caddy dealerships probably weren't prepared or up-to-par for performance cars and the level of service (for price). But Scott you had a 04 model right? that is almost 3 years ago so I have to believe that the dealerships have turned it around some as well as making better parts (i.e. rear ends, suspension, etc) with each new year of production. BMW did the same thing with the M5. The first year ('00) had several problems (burning oil, VANOS, electrical issues, etc). From my research the '02 and '03 models had much less problems because many were fixed from the factory. Again, I appreciate all the feedback and this is great discussion (although pretty OT). #3. RD rear sway bar question - from Shelhart2@aol.com
Top
Date: Tue, 26 Dec 2006 20:44:48 EST From: Shelhart2@aol.com Subject: RD rear sway bar question I understand basically how the stabalizer (anti roll) bar works ... by keeping the car "flat" through cornering (reducing roll) and using the principles of torsion on the bar through the stabalizer suspension link in hard cornering. On my 95 the previous owner put the larger diameter front and rear Racing Dynamics sways. The rear end makes some noise and it appears to be coming from the rear sway bar. Having never installed larger diameter sways in the past, should I expect noise from the sway bar. It looks like the bracket holding it to the body are the stock ones and the sway bar links appear not to have anything substantial to prevent much movement ( a bushing, etc.). I understand they will "flex to create torsion but it seems as if the bar might move from side to side. Anyone have these sways that can send me a pic of the sway bar links attached to the rear sway or shed some wisom? BTW, the caliper rebuild is very simple. A fellow lister has as excellent write up with clear pics if anyone needs it. Shel 1995 M3 2002 Boxster S

There is some small amount of rubber in the links, but maybe it has rotted out if you don't see any of it. Or perhaps they aren't really stock links at all? Also be sure to check the mounts of the subframe where the bar mounts to...they are pretty well known for cracking/tearing when larger bars have been installed due to the increased tension they are under. Check this ASAP, if it isn't too bad it is repairable (and reinforceable with a kit from Turner). #6. Luxury shift knob needed - from Tucker Ryals
Top
Date: Wed, 27 Dec 2006 11:20:52 -0800 (PST) From: Tucker Ryals <tuckerryals@yahoo.com> Subject: Luxury shift knob needed Gruppe, While driving home last night, my shift knob came off suddenly. Nothing like grabbing second gear and trying to shift into third in mid-air! Upon investigation, it seems that a piece (or pieces) in the top of the knob hole broke off. Little bits were deposited in the recesses of the shift boot. So, does anyone have a luxury shift knob laying around? Mine is a '95 model, wood grain, non-lighted version. Please let me know. #8. cutting new door panels - from Mpower

Date: Wed, 27 Dec 2006 12:54:02 -0800 From: Mpower <mpower@obikwan.com> Subject: cutting new door panels All, I broke down and bought new door panels. The old panels were delaminating and annoying the crap out of me. I originally was going to just re-upholster the doors, but decided that I didn't have the time to do that right now. So instead I bought new door panels. Now none of the holes come pre-drilled. So I need to "cut" out the hole for the power mirror switch. The hole is marked from the backside already though. Does anyone have any recommendations on what the best way to cut this hole out would be? This is a "measure twice and cut once" situation, because if I FUBAR it up, I'm going to have to set the car on fire! =P Thanks! ________________________________________________ Message sent using UebiMiau 2.7.9
