Yup. It spells it all out. Keep in mind for the rears it includes removing the window glass. I tried doing it without taking the glass; but it's a no-go. Once you have the glass out you should probably replace those plastic track guides that form the joint between the regulator arm and window. They are prone to breaking with age and use. Joe, and the whole team, are great guys and very knowledgeable and helpful. I try to make a trip there at least once or twice a year but do most of my business with him at the track. He's a big supporter of Genesee Valley and other BMW CCA chapters and almost always is at the driving schools with his truck full of toys, Santa Clause for track junkies. 8-) Joe has stopped me from making some big mistakes and last year pointed out that I had my shoulder straps wrapped wrong and I should either fix them or not bother wearing them and then he showed me what I had done wrong. I went through the same process looking for seats because I need wide tall ones and never found on I could afford and he would recommend. He had both but not in the same seat. Like helmets, seats are really something you need to test and IMO should not be bought mail order unless you have had the opportunity to test them for fit. They convinced me of the merits of the VAC plates in order to keep the seat as low as possible. One curve ball he did throw at me was the fact that the Recaro Pole Position seats that I seem to fit so well into apparently is not a good choice for someone of my height (6'1) as the holes for the shoulder harnesses are too low and could cause a problem. In fact he said that because of that they don't recommend them and in fact don't even stock them. Can anyone confirm this? I don't have the opportunity to find one nearby to sit in again to check that out. If that's correct I'll have to figure out again which seat fits me as an alternative. > > Yikes, take off the exhaust and driveshaft? #6. F/S 1999 BMW 328i (E46) in Northern Illinois - from jbjerke@charter.net

Date: Wed, 10 Jan 2007 8:55:59 -0800 From: <jbjerke@charter.net> Subject: F/S 1999 BMW 328i (E46) in Northern Illinois This car is in excellent condition (e-mail for pic's) with 90k miles. Bright red with tan leather interior. No accidents or paintwork, clean CARFAX and maintained by a BMW fanatic (me). All weak areas have been addressed. The entire cooling system was replaced as preventative maintenance, the oil seperator (common failure on these) was just done as well. I've also recently done all filters (air, cabin, fuel), belts, hoses, spark plugs, idle control valve. Tires and brakes are almost new. Replaced control arms (very common) and had 4-wheel alignment. The car needs nothing. We had intended to keep this car for another 3-4 years but my Wife needs more room. It has all available options (less sport package) including Zenon lights, heated seats, Harmon Kardon sound, rain sensing wipers, power seats, burl walnut trim, sunroof, automatic transmission, premium package, cold weather package etc. Mobil 1 oil changes with OEM filter every 5,000 miles. I also had the black plastic moldings painted red to match. BMW does this on M3's and I feel it makes the car look much better. E-mail me a jbjerke@charter.net for more information. The trick is spraying a little brake clean and waiting for an engine surge (without catching the car on fire). I've also taken out the idle control valve and cleaned it. Anyone have a used (working) idle control valve I could buy for diagnosis / backup? I still think the 5-6 time occilations between 400 - 1,000 seems too much simply due to the lighter flywheel. Am I the only one with this setup?? Still looking for other data points. Thanks. I usually notice it when I come to a stop sign or light. My guess is that the flywheel, being light, causes the RPMs to "bounce" as it settles down - basically it "oscillates" more than the stock flywheel. At least, that what it seems to me. Being the race car, I didn't much care :-) Jim Bassett ________________________________________________________________________ Check out the new AOL. Since it oscillates and then settles down, I doubt it's a vacuum leak. I would think a vacuum leak would cause continual oscillations(?). I'm sticking with "physics" :-) Jim Bassett
