However, I always felt that Helrot looked odd on the E36 M3 especially, with all of the big black trim. The color just doesn't pop enough, to me it looks like it's orangey or faded. But then, my taste is questionable because I loved my daytona violet m3. > I was curious as to why several said this. Red is one of my favorite M3 colors. > It seems 90% of BMW's are black or silver (at least in the midwest) so I'm kind of tired of those colors. Besides, black is a pain in the a$$ to keep clean. Due to this I've always preferred the Helrot, Alpine, Estoril, Avus etc. YMMV, but I've never heard anyone say red is a tough resale color. Now yellow and copper I understand as I feel those may narrow down your target audience. Just sold my Wife's helrot E46 and had several looking for that particular color. > > Jeff > 98 Helrot/Black M3 > 99 Helrot/Tan 328 (sold) > > > ---- E36M3 <e36m3@bmw-m.net> wrote: > > Date: Thu, 8 Feb 2007 12:12:35 -0600 > > From: "Goss, Patrick - PA" <Patrick.Goss@GMACM.COM> > > Subject: RE: [E36M3] Re: 1995 M3 for sale (feedback please) > > > > What??? people don't like red? I too am surprised about the red comments. Personally, I'd take my color combo over almost any other e36 M3 combo. Someone else commented how tough black is to care for and I agree. Also, I think black always takes away from the "aggressiveness" of a car like ours (or a Porsche, M5, etc.). What's the point of huge gaping air intakes when the openings are lost in the paint? To each his own clearly. :) Carl, as for your question, yes, it means no cat. I probably should update my ad to make sure everyone knows that, as well as the fact that a factory center section with cat is included in the sale. -------------------- 4 -------------------- Date: Thu, 08 Feb 2007 12:46:25 -0700 From: Carl Stern <carl.stern@xilinx.com> Subject: Re: 1995 M3 for sale (feedback please) I may as well throw in my opinion. What would turn me off is the "track pipe". I assume this means you have no cat? This means illegal to most folks, not passing emissions, and a several hundred dollar outlay to do so. If it doesn't mean no cat than you should clarify what it is. I also agree with the winter issue. My car hasn't even been started in over a month! BTW, I have a 95 M3 with 50k miles. I'd like to think it is still worth $15-$17k. Carl ____________________________________________________________________________________ Finding fabulous fares is fun. Let Yahoo! Might want to try to hard wire it to the sunroof. It will then go off when you turn off the car. There is no easy way to rewire the cig. lighter. I personally don't dislike red, I just prefer stealthier looking cars so red doesn't do it for me. Plus my first BMW was red and I never really took to that color, still haven't gotten past it. I think red cars can look very nice for sure and if I had a Ferrari it would be red. If I had a Porsche it would be black. BMW....depends on the model although currently my (soon to be mine) E30 M3 is Salmon Silver and my E38 740 is Aspen Silver (both are silver with a rosy hue), love those silvers which I believe most do not. For an E30 M3 I'd prefer Henna which is orangish red so I guess it's not only model specific but even more than that. E36 M3....hmmm....I like black actually probalby because I think the styling of the E36 is a big jump away from the traditional styling of the E30 and similar gen 5/7 cars and the dark color diminishes that a bit. Strangely (maybe) I also like Boston Green. Estoril has grown on me but I'm now not very fond of Avus. Well, before I waste bandwidth talking about each color, Tucker, I did think your car looked good in the pics! Jack Money Elephant Motorsports http://www.elephantmotorsports.com

#7. speaker thingy under dash - from Shelhart2@aol.com

Date: Thu, 8 Feb 2007 20:42:23 EST From: Shelhart2@aol.com Subject: speaker thingy under dash So I hear this clicking under the driver dash that i can feel slightly through the brake pedal when pulling into the office this am. I'm not sure what it is because it stopped (clicked / vibrated every 3-4 seconds or so). I pulled the under dash panel off to see and there is a little round speaker with two connectors going to it. It was unplugged. What is this for and anyone have any ideas what the clicking was? I suppose it could have come from the other side of the firewall but has to be close to the linkage for the brake pedal or I wouldn't fel it it my foot?? Shel 1995 M3 2002 Boxster S

I didn't realize how annoying it was until i hooked it back up... I traced my clicking down to a relay in the fuse box. Appears to be the main relay. It clicks 3 seconds after the car ignition is shut off. I'll get a new one. This just might be the cause of my electrical gremlin... I'll keep my fingers crossed. Shel 1995 M3 2002 Boxster S

You really want to find another power source for the Garmin. The lighter socket draws so much current, it has larger gauge wire and a higher amperage fuse and moving it to a switched circuit would take substantial work.
