Harbor Freight, McMaster-Carr, etc etc. They are called "t-hooks," so search on that on those sites. Should be about $7 each. - Mark ----- mark@pdc-racing.net Check out my JustRacing Home Page at: http://www.justracing.com/homepage/mdadgar

Looking at that picture, I'm having trouble understanding where they hook into the car to hold it. Can somebody explain? Also, would those be used as chain attachment points for the flatbed to pull the car up, or only as hold-down points once up on the flatbed? Hopefully I'll never need wrecker in my M, but... -Pete On 2/16/07, bs <m3bs@comcast.net> wrote: > > Date: Fri, 16 Feb 2007 17:50:07 -0500 > From: "bs" <m3bs@comcast.net> > Subject: Re: Tow Hooks > > http://awdirect.com/finditem.cfm?itemid=8979 > > > Brian Sartori > 95 M3 > > > Date: Fri, 16 Feb 2007 16:33:00 -0600 > > From: "Resener, Kurt" <KurtResener@IamMorrison.com> > > Subject: Tow Hooks > > > > Does anyone know where I can get a set of the hooks that go into the > > chassis at the hockey puck area for tying down our cars while towing? > > > > ************************************************* > Please help support the E36M3 list by visiting our sponsors: > > Bimmerworld http://www.bimmerworld.com > Turner Motorsport http://www.turnermotorsport.com > Eurosport High Performance http://www.eurosporthighperformance.com > Rogue Engineering http://www.rogueengineering.com > Treehouse Racing http://www.treehouseracing.com > Elephant Motorsports Inc. http://www.elephantmotorsports.com > > DIGEST INFORMATION: > http://www.bmw-m.net/resources/digest_info.htm > ************************************************* > > >

The "T" goes into the hole vacated by the puck (AKA tab "A" into slot "B"). Attach tie-down straps to the loop. > Also, would those be used as chain attachment points for the flatbed to > pull > the car up, or only as hold-down points once up on the flatbed? Hold down points. Use the tow hook in your trunk kit for winching up onto the flat bed. Jim Bassett

If you pry the jacking pucks off the bottom of the car, there are slots that the t-hooks fit into underneath. > Also, would those be used as chain attachment points for the > flatbed to pull > the car up, or only as hold-down points once up on the flatbed? Date: Fri, 16 Feb 2007 16:02:39 -0800 From: "Jim Powell" <jsp98m3@apexcone.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Re: Tow Hooks Also, never tell the tow truck driver how to do anything. Not ever. If he messes up and something tears off the car, he's liable to make it perfect again. If you tell him how, where, etc, its your fault. You can offer that there is a tow hook in the tool kit if he thinks that's how to do it. Other than that, either be quiet or tell him to leave your car alone. I used to repair things for a living decades ago.... Customer: I want you to replace the O2 sensor on my blood gas machine. Me: I replaced the O2 sensor, that will be $380.00. I also replaced the membrane kit, that will be $28.00 Customer: Why did you replace the membrane kit? Me: After I replaced the O2 sensor, I determined the membrane kit was contaminated. I replaced that so your machine wouldn't read irratically. Customer: So I only needed to replace the Membrane Kit? Me: Probably. Were you readings erratic? Customer: Yes. Put my old O2 sensor back in and see if its good. Me: Ok, I put your old O2 sensor back in and it works fine. So the bill is $380+$28 plus $60 to put the old sensor back in. Customer: WTF?!? Why $60 more? Me: You told me to put the old O2 sensor back in to see if it works. It does. The $60 is for labor to put it back in. Customer: Fine, you can keep the new O2 sensor then. Me: I'm sorry, I can't. Once they are opened, they are opened and I can't keep it. Maybe next time, you should just tell me the machine is acting up and let me give you an estimate? Moral of the story, if you tell someone how to do their job, you get to pay for how they do it.
