Date: Tue, 20 Feb 2007 14:05:35 -0600 From: "Eric Giles" <egiles@c-gate.net> Subject: RE: [E36M3] E90 M3 photos Well, we all knew that it was basically going to be an E90 with some aggressive body panel additions on the outside, so none of it is a surprise at all. I think they did an excellent job with the styling, and the car in 4 door trim looks very nice! I will admit-when the E60 5 series was released, I thought it was terrible in the styling department. Now that I have had the chance to drive an '04 545i with 6sp. Manual and a '07 525i, my thoughts about the 5 series has totally changed. The car now looks very aggressive and substantial, and as far as driving-well, I have driven many cars and the E60 5 series is the finest car I have every driven-bar none. Times change, but in my opinion BMW is still getting it right. Mercedes Benz keeps coming out with better and better looking cars in my opinion. What has happened to BMW? Michael Michalski

An older 911 looks NOTHING like what's on the roads these days (except of course a new 911). Why don't the designers get this? That their new cars look just like all the other cars? Lots of folks don't want to pay $50K plus for a generic look. I never warmed to the 996 - I still prefer the 993 over that one. But the 997 is just pure art and sex - especially in GT3 trim... Now THAT is a pleasing sports car design!! Caymen isn't bad either, but I would never buy one new - the depreciation curve looks too painful.... Too bad that is the only thing they have going for them, overall the styling is generally bland and quality has gone down hill. The best part is that MB has actually copied the Bangle Butt on one of their models. What has happened to BMW? They sell tons of cars, make a lot of money and are one of the most successful automotive manufacturers in the World. :-) Regards, Rich
