I filled up just about the end of our drive back from Infineon to Seattle and was completely exhausted. Not surprising that I didn't get the cap on properly. We're going to clear the code and give it a test run. I'll report succes or failure later. I'm still curious why the tool would say page 16 instead of 11, though. Should I just assume page 11 whenever I use the tool? Why would it report the wrong page? Thanks, everyone. I have no idea what's on page 16. The chart you want for a 1998 M3/4 (at least in my book) is Chart 2. I would have that when you looked up the code, and it came back for a problem with cylinders you don't even have, that would have been a clue. > I'll check the gas cap tonight. Saw the non-acronym version of that statement on a bumpersticker a couple years ago. I nearly drove off the road, I was laughing so hard. I've been looking for one ever since. It would go nicely with the "ITMFA" and "MEOW" round stickers on the rear windshield. You look in the front of the booklet for the model/year of your car, then go to the chart indicated. Looking at Chart 2, code "1b" (the "b" & "6" are sometimes hard to tell apart) is "Idle speed actuator (close)". I have no more info about that code, but it sounds like it might be related the low idle problem you mentined <shrug>. Jim Bassett

If I remember incorrectly, I apologize. Last time I reset codes was in January, for secondary air pump failure, which occurred twice but not since the second reset. I looked at the check valve as suggested by Bav Auto's newsletter (valve didn't have any carbon or other stuff on the fittings). Just one of those electrical things?
