#1. Car update and a plea for help - from DocWyte

Date: Sun, 18 Mar 2007 19:25:01 -0700 From: DocWyte <docwyte@comcast.net> Subject: Car update and a plea for help Hey guys, figured I'd update ya on what I've been doing. SCR Performance has been instrumental in this project, which can be seen at www.projectonelap.com <http://www.projectonelap.com>. Basically we're taking my Audi S4 avant "stage 3", which means all the euro RS4 goodies and 450hp on street gas, 500hp on race gas. Basically everything is done. SCR needs to get it aligned, corner balanced, put in R134a and heat mold the bellypan to fit over the RS4 IC's. Then drive it around some on high boost to shake it out. I plan on being at Pueblo on the 30th to see how it does on the track when driven in anger. I've driven it on low boost so far (12psi) and it ROCKS! Very fast, very smooth. No driveline lash at all, there shouldn't be, between the RS4 mounts, APR snub and AWE DTS with urethane mount. Feels great! The clutch doesn't feel any heavier than stock, rev matching is quite simple with the flywheel and it has minimal chatter. Handling is flat and sure, didn't push it enough to see what the Stasis 4:1 center diff does. Brakes feel phenomenal! Nice firm pedal that's really confidence inspiring. Here's the plea, most of you know that I'm doing the One Lap of America this year. What you may not know is that I'm raising money for Racing2SaveLives, which is a non-profit organization that then directly donates the money on to deserving childrens charities like Make a Wish. They don't take out any administrative fee, so the charities get all the cash. Since they're a non-profit, the donations are tax deductible. Either contact me via email and I'll give you paypal information that I've set up for this, or make a donation directly to www.racing2savelives.org <http://www.racing2savelives.org>. If you donate directly, please note that the donation is affliated with my team and www.projectonelap.com <http://www.projectonelap.com>. Even a few bucks would mean alot! Thanks!

Here is the repair wiring set for the trunk lid: <http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=CD93&mospid=47504&btnr=61_0105&hg=61&fg=10> I bought that repair harness but never installed it. I come from the computer world and figured it would plug into the harness in the left rear fender. No such luck, you have to cut the factory harness at that point and splice in the repair harness. I never felt like cutting my factory harness in the trunk to just get the trunk light to work again. If I did cut it I would make my own plug and play harness with connectors from Fry's (or any electronics house). Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com

This was a shirt I did for a local E36 gathering in Seattle a couple years ago. Anyway, I have a little free time, so I said yes. So if anyone has some buddies with an E36, if you could pass on this message that an E36 themed T-shirt is available for pre-order. The routine is the same as the E30 shirts, people need to pre-order then I get the shirts made based on the pre-paid orders, then send out the shirts. The quality of the printing, etc will be the same as the other M Team shirts. The deadline to order is March 31 and shirts will mail out in mid-April. Here is a link to full info about the shirts, including images. I'm biased towards E30s of course, but I'll admit that this design turned out pretty good. My wife drives an E36 so she wears hers around the house. LOL. Alternatively, and what many do, you can cut the wiring before the damaged section(s), near the trunk lid and near the trunk, splice in a new segment that will run from the trunk to the trunk lid, and push it and the splices into the trunk and trunk lid. This is almost double the work, but lets you to substitute more robust wire, wire an automaker wouldn't dream of u$ing unle$$ they were forced to. -John '96 318is
