ATF actually has way less detergents and less dispersants than a quality motor oil. If you are attempting to clean engine internals, you might want to look into something like Auto-RX, BG40 or Lube Control. > From: "Mike DePolo" <smiked1@gmail.com> > > I use Chevron Delo 400 15w40 HDEO for flushing after assembly. Although this is a benefit for extended drains and longer engine life, the extra phosphorus and ash can be detrimental to the catalytic converter. > From: jeff.conner@yahoo.com > (regarding ATF) > This is something that my mechanic recommends to rid cars of the "dreaded idle lifter tick". What Lowell said, is my 2 cents. :-) D4 ATF in the daily-driver M3, changed about every 40K; MTL in the race car; changed 1-2 times a year. Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP

Hi, I was trying to get a feel for what other people were using. I'm about o change it. I'll be using Amsoil ATF but wanted to know if anyone was using MTL to quiet an idle rattle and such. I don 't have he rattle at idle with the tranny in neutral but my E30 did. Thanks all. #9. Ignition Switch Wiring bypass? - from Steve Klein

Date: Thu, 22 Mar 2007 21:39:16 -0500 From: Steve Klein <s.klein@steveklein.cc> Subject: Ignition Switch Wiring bypass? Hey, Folks- Having my ignition cylinder konk out a few weeks ago, I've decided to bypass it and have my replacement switches ready to go, but there are two wires I can't account for from my Bentley wiring schematics (ELE-10 diagram). Any help is appreciated. Car is an 11/95 M3 What I've got: Red: Hot Grn: Run circuit Vio: Accessory circuit Blk/Yel: Starter (momentary) Grn/Wht (Not used) Brn: ? (dunno) Blu/Wht ? (dunno) I've got two toggle switches (20A SPST) that I'll use for Accessory and Run and one momentary pushbutton that I'll use for the starter (15A). So, where do I tie in the Brn and Blu/Wht and what are they for? Also, are 20A switches big enough for the Acc and Run circuits? And is 15A big enough for the starter circuit? Thanks in advance for your help. Getting tired of starting the car with a screwdriver. Steve Pic here: http://www.steveklein.cc/images/switch1.jpg
