My sentiments exactly... Though I suspect the price tag on that E90 M3 Touring will shock us both (I personally don't see the increased "value" in the E46 M3 over the E36 to justify the sticker price increase, which is why I haven't even test driven one, though I'd like to experience and SMG just to say I have, probably not to own)... I saw Neil Simon's M Coupe (a Twin Screw test car AFAIK) during the One Lap last year, and there was an M3 customer car at Road America last May. Nice tidy installation. #4. rough idle with OE Bosch plugs - from David Thomas

Date: Sat, 24 Mar 2007 18:08:07 -0700 From: David Thomas <dave@sasdatalink.com> Subject: rough idle with OE Bosch plugs Anyone else had poor performance from these plugs? I had been using the NGK BKR6EQUP plugs in our '95 M3 with very good results but recently installed a set of the OE spec Bosch plugs (FR7LDC) and my idle became very poor. It misses every now and then causing it to stumble and drop by 200rpm or so. I recently installed a new set of ignition coils and boots so I put the old ones back in to see if the new coils were the issue and the poor idle remains. I will have a new set of the NGK's on Monday....anyone need a set of FR7LDC's with about 50 miles on them...I'll make you a good deal ;-) Dave

(This month there's an article on the new M3 motor.) Just click on the link and sign up. http://www.windingroad.com/subscribe I write for the same company (Absolute Multimedia) but afraid I can't do anything about getting free subscriptions to the audio mags. They even make me pay for those. Sue

#9. FS: 97 M3/4 (First posting) - from Mel Silva
Top
Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2007 22:28:46 -0500 From: Mel Silva <melsilva@mindspring.com> Subject: FS: 97 M3/4 (First posting) Hi gang, Spring has sprung and I've decided to sell my '97 M3 Sedan. I've owned this car since April 2001 and 13K miles. Now, it is getting close to 81K miles. If anyone is interested, you can look at the original window sticker here: http://www.melsilva.net/images/bmw_window_sticker_s.jpg It's a 4 door, 5 speed (rarity in itself), with the Luxury Package in Byzanz. Here are some older pictures of the car: http://www.3dogbrew.com/melsilva.net/pages/bmw_upgrades.htm I will get some new pictures if I can ever keep the car clean for 5 minutes. Between the tree pollen and rain, it's been tough. _Since then some of the modifications/upgrades that have been made are:_ * X-brace * JC Shark injector * JC CAI (currently off the vehicle, it needs a new ITG filter. Instead I removed the air horn from the stock airbox and the pickup and torque feel about the same to me, plus I get to use stock air filters) * Koni Sport (yellow) cut and gut * H&R O.E. springs * Aluminum thermostat housing * recent hose and belt replacement * New Radiator (not installed, waiting for the stock one to blow since 65K miles) * Stellar BMW Mode alarm (see BMWSTX on www.bavauto.com <http://www.bavauto.com> for more info) * Metallic tinted windows (reduces UV damage to the interior and reflects heat off the windows) * HK rear deck speaker upgrade <http://www.3dogbrew.com/melsilva.net/pages/bmw_hk_upgrade.htm> * Umnita Predator ellipsoids <http://www.umnitza.com/product_info.php?cPath=101_24_38_60&products_id=259> * Xenon lamps replaced with Syvania SilverStar (if you haven't tried these lamps yet, do it!) * UUC Stage 2 Lightweight flywheel <http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/flywheel/LFWLE36SH.htm> * UUC EVO 3 Short Shift Kit <http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_product/bmw_shifters/uucshifter.htm> (Not installed) * New Guibo and all 4 - O2 sensors replaced last September (same time the flywheel and clutch were done) * Spark plugs replaced with NGK Iridium a couple of years ago (still look great) * Zimmerman cross drilled rotors and Hawk HPS brake pads * XM satellite antenna and new rear window weatherstrip (I'm keeping the XM radio though) I did this myself and didn't do it "car-stereo-shop-half-ass" either. I removed most of the interior to route the antenna wire away from everything and secured it in place along the way. _Stuff that will be replaced in the next week:_ * Leaky power steering hoses (sitting in the Pelican Parts box in the garage) * Cowl cover (directs water from windshield to side drains rather than the cabin air intake, same box as above) * Cabin filter, engine air filter and oil (Inspection II) * Rotors need inspection and/or replacement (Zimmerman + Hawk HPS = bad ~ warped rotors or pad material retention, either way you get wheel vibration under braking unless you stand on 'em) At one time I had a UUC DMS exhaust on the car but went back to the stock system after 2 years. I was planning on selling that separately, but the item is negotiable. The tires are about at end of life. But you probably wouldn't like the tires I put on it anyway. I have the Kumho Ecsta ASX's on the car because I can almost get 15K miles out of them, same as the Michelin's, but 1/3rd the price. The undertray is missing! I've just been too buzy to actually replace it. _Under the topic of Full Disclosure._ I was hit in an intersection in August last year (8/24) so the hood, left and right fenders have been repainted with blending on the doors. See the damage here <http://www.melsilva.net/images/storage/P8240018.JPG>: This is the only incident that this car has had while in my care. Honestly, I don't know if anything like this happened before, but I've been all over the car and found no such evidence. _So what's the bottom line? _ I'm looking for $15K. Kelley Blue Book Value says $13K, but I've added a bunch of goodies and the car has been pampered. Sorry this message is so long, but I'd rather sell it on this list than the BMW Forum. Don't make me go there ;-) Mel Silva Spring (Houston), TX melsilva.net melsilva@mindspring.com

Nice car...but I don't know if you can get $15K for a 4 door that's been wrecked...too many out there...at least in my area. Good starting price though. Dave
