Look forward to picking up some pointers and sharing information. I am looking for some lightweight seats that are reasonably comfortable for daily use, but significantly lighter than the stock power-adjustable seats. Recommendations would be appreciated. The SPG fits in my '95 M3 with a little bit of room to spare and the lower position gives me that extra bit of headroom I needed not to rub my helmet on the roof. Amazing how I never really felt uncomfortable, on the track anyway, in my Vaders; but after having the car at Road Atlanta a couple weeks ago for the first time with the SPG XL I really felt so much more secure and planted in the car. I would recommend twin-tube T8 HO fluorescents. For the cost and efficiency, they put out a ton of light and are very economical (in initial cost and energy efficiency). General rule of thumb is 100 lumens per square foot. I have six twin-tube units in my shop (8 foot twin-tube T8 HO units) which worked out to around 80,000 lumens (~700 sq. feet) combined with the epoxy floor works pretty nicely. I plan to add two of the quad tube units over the main workspace (right now there are just two of the older four foot twin-tube T12 units). There are plenty of more expensive options if you are looking to simply spend money. 2) Aside from adding decent lighting, any thoughts on items that should be > put in the ceiling while the drywall is full of holes? Add some backing material behind the drywall where you plan to add lights if you are installing them on the surface. Regards, Rich

I, and others on another list, have had good success with HO (high output) flourescents. The fixtures & bulbs may be available at Home Depot, I got my fixture/bulbs at a local lighting contractor supply place that also does retail business. I may have some more specific info on the home computer - I'll try to look tonight. Jim Bassett

#6. Garage floor finish...polished concrete? - from Chester Wong

So I have to do something about the garage floor before I order the lift (muahahaha!). I was thinking about doing polished concrete: http://www.reflectiveconcrete.com/ Whaddya think? It's $2.50/sq ft which would cost me about $1500. The cool things are same day readiness (move stuff out, have them come in...it's a dry process, and then when they leave, the floors are ready), no worries about peeling, I might be able to use the cool floating mat from Steve D, a bit more earth friendly since there are no solvents/acid/etc. Any comments? TIA, Chester

It is not a large garage by any means - > 2.5 car width, single story height Your garage sounds very similar to mine in size. I have three 8 ft twin tube fluorescent fixtures, each holding two 110W high output lamps. Two fixtures are lengthwise to the garage, the other crosswise toward the inside end. Lighting intensity is very bright. These put out a ton more light than the average cheapie shop light. You can get these fixtures, rated for starting down to -20F (important for a garage), at any big box home store for about $60-70 each. The only thing I would do differently next time is to space the fixtures apart more. When I park the car in the middle to work on it they're a bit too close and don't shine into the wheel wells or engine compartment quite as well as they optimally could. I also use twin halogen floods on a base and a fluorescent trouble light. Neil Fort Wayne, IN 96 M3 - Bastard child 03 525iT - Sterling Grey Metallic 05 Mini - Cooper S with LSD
