It'll cost you another $100 though.... Shel 1995 M3 2002 Boxster S ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2007 16:42:58 EDT From: Shelhart2@aol.com Subject: Thermostat temp I have the whole front end off the car as I install the new Zionsville aluminum radiator and a new condenser and misc A/C parts. I took the thermostat housing off while in there and got a new one at the dealer. The one I took out said 71 degrees and the one for the dealer says 92 degrees. on the top. I know you can get different temps, what is the general consensus on the best temp? Shel 1995 M3 2002 Boxster S ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

First, have you removed the clutch delay valve? For details, please see: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_techtip/techtips/check_valve.htm The CDV can cause the clutch release to drag more than preferable. With the CeraMetallic clutch, excessive slow engagement at low temps can cause glazing, which results in exactly the sound you're describing. After making sure the CDV is removed, you can de-glaze this particular clutch material by doing some at-speed had shifts with deliberately bad rev-matching. Please note that procedure is only recommended for ceramic/metal material clutches, not for regular organics. Think of clutch material exactly like you would think of brake pad material. The higher-performance materials, such as the Hawk HP-Plus, will squeal if used too lightly, for the exact same glazing reason. A couple of good, hard decelerations de-glazes the pads. > Also, UUC recommends a tranny fluid combination to cut > down on the rattling noise of the lightweight flywheel. Never cared much for rules around here, but the few we do have have are linked at the bottom of each post under DIGEST INFO. (Most pertain to common sense list etiquette.) As always, there are no restrictions for private party ads. Thanks, Ye olde list mistress

Not sure what brand they are though. I have their stainless steel catback exhaust in my E30 and the price wasn't that low but I thought it sounded like it would be perfect for my car. Fit was not great according to the installer and he would never recommend it because of what he had to go through. I was disappointed because I thought it would have a nice sound but to me it is stockish. One thing though I like loud exhausts. I have the annoyingly loud UUC one (whatever the old dual can one is called) and I love that thing. :-) Carlos 98 M3 can be heard from blocks away and today I set off a car alarm :-)

You install the same color tip as the one you remove. For the rest, the archives are your friend <g>: <http://www.bmw-m.net/Digest/Archive_2003_12_digest_3492-3531/digest3531.htm#10> Jim Bassett
