Some of you mentioned the Autoenginuity code reset tool just after I gave in and bought the Peake scan/reset tool...oops. I checked out the http://www.autoenginuity.com/products.html site and it seems pretty sweet. it's $250 but can be used for all cars... good but it seems that for the specific codes it's another ~$200 for each manufacturer (kind of steep!)Any thoughts? For the ones who have purchased it did you get the bmw specific codes? Do you really need them? Stefano '98 M3 w brand new cooling system tested at Pocono w/o any issues. _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!

I did a fair amount of research, and I'm hoping I made the right choice. I don't think I found one user review that didn't think it was great. BTW, BMW is one of the most expensive enhanced interfaces because it requires 2 additional cables. Most other packages are ~$150. Still not cheap, but considering the capabilities (if you need them) it seems reasonable. I was surprised to find out how many other scan tools are out there. I think the Peake tool is hard to beat if you only have BMWs and need to pull codes, reset CE & SI lights, etc. Since I wanted the SRS functionality and a device that I could use with my other vehicles, I went ahead and popped for the AE tool w/BMW interface. I'm sure it has more capability then I'll ever use. For BMW only you could always go the Ebay/CarSoft route for about $150 and have stealer-like capability (odometer, EWS, etc.). I can give you more feedback after I have a chance to use it. #4. M50 Manifold Conversion - from Matt Bader

Date: Fri, 20 Apr 2007 11:39:10 -0400 From: "Matt Bader" <mbader@exammaster.com> Subject: M50 Manifold Conversion Has anyone done an M50 manifold conversion? Which kit did you use? I have read that it is technically illegal to put an OBDI manifold on an OBDII car (because of emissions), but not sure if that is true. Has anyone failed an emissions inspection (visual or otherwise) because of an m50 manifold conversion. Tia, Matt Bader 98 M3/4 Delaware

I know from looking at the web page that later cars have just _gobs_ of different sensors and tests to be run. The basic AE tool is pretty awesome by itself, though. No BMW-specific codes (just OBD-II ones), but that can get you pretty far. I'm _very_ interested in hearing about what the expansion kit can do for our cars. -Pete On 4/20/07, Stefano G <stefanoale@excite.com> wrote: > > Date: Fri, 20 Apr 2007 09:31:49 -0400 (EDT) > From: "Stefano G" <stefanoale@excite.com> > Subject: Code reset Peake vs Autoenginuity - 2nd post > > > it seems that it bounced back so here I go again... > > Some of you mentioned the Autoenginuity code reset tool just after I gave > in and bought the Peake scan/reset tool...oops. > > I checked out the http://www.autoenginuity.com/products.html site and it > seems pretty sweet. it's $250 but can be used for all cars... good but it > seems that for the specific codes it's another ~$200 for each manufacturer > (kind of steep!)Any thoughts? > > For the ones who have purchased it did you get the bmw specific codes? Even visually unless you know a black plastic part for another nearly identical black plastic part I don't see the issue. Carlos 98 M3 (no emissions testing in Detroit) :-)

I did mine about 2 years ago with the cam kit from Eurosport. You are not removing any emissions stuff, so I dont know how you could be in violation of any law. No inspection station is going to know the difference between the two manifolds. #9. "Titanium Silver" BMW Paint in a Rattle Can? - from Jonathan L.

Date: Fri, 20 Apr 2007 09:44:22 -0700 From: "Jonathan L." <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: "Titanium Silver" BMW Paint in a Rattle Can? Continuing in the journey of tearing things out of my car, and let me tell you, sound deadening is a PITA. Not hard work, but BOY is it tedious. Once the cage goes in, which won't be for a little while still, I think I'm going to want to go one step further in cleaning up the interior by repainting the metal surfaces. I've been scratching it up a little bit, and there's some good discoloration here and there, but I'd like to be presentable for any potential sponsors. Has anyone found a spray paint that is close to or the same as the BMW Titanium Silver? I've only seen it supplied from BMW so far as touch up paint. Or would the only real option be to get the paint code, have it made up? thanks, Jonathan L. _________________________________________________________________ Interest Rates NEAR 39yr LOWS! $430,000 Mortgage for $1,299/mo - Calculate new payment http://www.lowermybills.com/lre/index.jsp?sourceid=lmb-9632-19132&moid=14888
