I wanted to send a note and thank everyone for their patience, advice and help for the last 6 years. I joined this list about May of 2001 right after I bought my M3. I sold Penny, my Byzanz '97 M3 Sedan, a week ago Saturday. I sold to another enthusiast whom I referred to this list for it's technical advice. So, if Mike M. sends a message some day with a question about Penny, you know where he got her. I've only met a couple of you and talked to a couple more on the phone, so this has been an "online" experience for the most part and it has payed dividends in many ways. I also appreciate that the after market manufacturers haunt this list and I've received discounts and great advice because of it. I'm now the proud owner of a 5.7L Tundra Doublecab and I don't have to look at tailgates all the way to work and home anymore. Maybe when my daughter is finished with college (she's 4 now), or I make it to CIO, I'll be able to buy a third "fun" car, but for now the M3 just seems so impractical. So, thanks again to all of you and especially Suzy, whom I've never met, but deserves a big hug if I ever do run into her. Tripp, You sound like my long lost twin brother, except that younger son talked me into a '99 M3 when he went to college then I ended up with a 325e, '86 track toy. Younger son started with a '76 2002, then the 325 I have, now a '93 325 we just did a coilover on. Soon he should start the truck/van trek as he starts his family. Got married last year and they went to Germany and he got to drive the Autobahn at speed. I'm so jealous. My history was '73 Datsun 240Z, '76 2002 when kid came along, followed by a number of Jeeps for hauling, then back to BMW. I wonder how many other 'lost' brothers we have out there? I had one or two E36 M3's always in the garage for a ten year period. The first mistake that I made was selling my 1995 M3 in 2001. It went to a list member, so his gain. :-) Selling the second M3 last July 1st was not a mistake, but set the stage for how long I could go without an E36 M3 in the garage. Which I discovered for me is exactly six months. :-) I found my M3 sedan online on January 1st, 2007. I am still looking for an alpine white 1995 M3 with under 60K miles on it to correct my first mistake. The other mistake I have made is selling any E36 M3 parts. I have sold sets of wheels and exhausts and then months later needed those wheels or exhaust. :-) Though, I will have five Contours with 75% tires for sale soon as I kept my old SSR Comp's and they are going on the car this weekend. Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com PS: Jim, let me know if you want to sell me back the E36 M3 exhaust I sold you. :-)

Short answer: no :-) It, and the 45K-mile cat I bought from Marco, is waiting for the M3's motor rebuild sometime next year. Jim Bassett

Although, I think in general the E36 M3 market has flattened out, maybe because when you look at the other cars you can get for $10-20K, the M3 still holds up against newer used cars in that price bracket.
