One of the differences between stock hoses and all the aftermarket ones I've seen so far is that only the stockers have a swivel fitting at the caliper end. Therefore you need to tighten the new line to the caliper first, then to the chassis hard line. This will avoid unwanted twist on the StopTech hoses. To disconnect the stock hoses from the hard line, first apply some penetrating oil and let it sit for a while. Use a good quality (i.e. snug fitting) flare nut wrench to break the joint free. Be careful not to round off the soft fittings. Neil Fort Wayne, IN 96 M3 - Bastard child 03 525iT - Sterling Grey Metallic 05 Mini - Cooper S with LSD

Date: Thu, 3 May 2007 07:18:24 -0700 (PDT) From: L R <lhrc51@yahoo.com> Subject: Tire fitment question I can get a set of what it seems barely used 255/40/17 Dunlop Direzza DZ101 tires for a good price but I had some questions about fitment. My '95 M3 is currently setup with 245/40/17 Yoko AVSi's on 17x8.5 AC Schnitzers, Bilstein sports w/oem springs. Does anyone here has/had these tires & if so how wide do they run? I'm aware that the ideal wheel width for 255's is a 9 inch wheel. TIA, Luis --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell? Check outnew cars at Yahoo! Autos.

So you should be able to get them to fit, but you will probably need to roll the rear fenders at least a little. It's not hard at all. I've run the Victoracers on both an 8.5" wheel, and a 9" wheel. I've have the AutoEnginuity kit, and I'm currently using it with their Bluetooth adapter and my MDA (Windows Mobile device...aka HTC Wizard). I'm seeing some behavior hat I'm trying to understand...is it user error, just the way it works, or a broken setup... Please contact me off list as this is OT. If others are interested I can summarize back to the list. Thanks. -Pete

Any problems using those Gatorback belts from Goodyear? Is there a particular reason to stay with the OE parts?

#10. Clutch Delay Valve - from Matt Bader

Date: Sun, 6 May 2007 19:38:23 -0400 From: "Matt Bader" <mbader@exammaster.com> Subject: Clutch Delay Valve Hi Rob: I got the CDV removed, and shifting seems better. I still think I have some glazing to contend with as there is still some slipping in first. I have done a few of the abrupt downshifts, but I may need to be more aggressive about this, or just give it more time. Thanks for everyone's input on this issue. I found a set of instructions at http://www.bmw325i.net/cdv_removal.shtml that made things pretty clear. Not that difficult to remove, even for a novice like me. First, have you removed the clutch delay valve? For details, please see: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_techtip/techtips/check_valve.htm The CDV can cause the clutch release to drag more than preferable. With the CeraMetallic clutch, excessive slow engagement at low temps can cause glazing, which results in exactly the sound you're describing. After making sure the CDV is removed, you can de-glaze this particular clutch material by doing some at-speed had shifts with deliberately bad rev-matching. Please note that procedure is only recommended for ceramic/metal material clutches, not for regular organics. Think of clutch material exactly like you would think of brake pad material. The higher-performance materials, such as the Hawk HP-Plus, will squeal if used too lightly, for the exact same glazing reason. A couple of good, hard decelerations de-glazes the pads. > Also, UUC recommends a tranny fluid combination to cut > down on the rattling noise of the lightweight flywheel. A > paper insert came with the clutch kit, but I have since > lost it. Can you refresh my memory on that? It's available on our website in the "tech tips" section, direct link: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_techtip/techtips/tranny_rattle.htm - Rob Levinson UUC Motorwerks * 908-874-9092 * http://www.uucmotorwerks.com
