They may have also been MXX3s - at least that's what my '98 had on when I bought it. Date: Tue, 8 May 2007 11:05:49 -0700 From: "Burgess, Kim L" <kim.l.burgess@boeing.com> Subject: RE: OE Tires As everyone has indicated Michelin MXXX3s in a 235/40/17 where fitted to both the 95 M3 on 7.5 X 17 wheels and the LWT on staggered 7.5 X 17 and 8.5 X 17 wheels. Michelin MXXX3s in a 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 on staggered 7.5 X 17 and 8.5 X 17 wheels for 96+. Also as mentioned Pilot Sports replaced the MXXX3s in 98(?) as my June purchased 99 had the Pilot Sports. If any of those years had original MXXX3 tires, the car would have to have less than 32K - 38K miles. I don't recall the exact mileage my 98 had when I traded it in 1999 but the MXXX3s were just about done. And as mentioned they could have been purchased as replacements as late as mid 98(?). I loved the crisp turn-in response of the MXXX3's. But they nearly put my car into the Jersey barrier one morning on the way to work two weeks after I purchased it. I though what a terrible mistake I've just made with 40K+ hard earned dollars on a car I cannot drive in the rain. -------------------- 7 -------------------- Date: Tue, 8 May 2007 12:53:51 -0400 From: "Seth Thomas" <porsche993@mindspring.com> Subject: Oe Tires What were the OE tires the E36 M3 came with? Belts and pulleys can be changed w/out pulling the radiator or fan shroud. Hoses, water pump and t-stat are another issue. T-stat can probably be changes w/out pulling the other stuff. I've done the pulleys and belts in about an hour w/out pulling all the other stuff; just the fan. I burned up my original rear tires in less than 8K! <vbg> I bought my '95 M3 in January 1996. If you remember, all of the car magazines were in love with the M3. It was COTY, Best Handling, Top 10, etc... Every tom dick and harry wanted to challenge me at every stoplight. I had Z28 Camaros, Trans Ams, GT Mustangs, SHO Tauruses, SS Impalas, Corvettes, ... , you-name-it. Well, I was quite happy to defend Sir M3's honor! hehehe I did pretty well. Corvettes would usually beat me but if the joker missed a shift, I had him. The only vehicle that spanked me [and I knew it would] was the GMC Typhoon. Whew! There was no vehicle on earth quicker to 40 mph than that son-of-a-gun! My rear tires were lucky to make it to 8K, and remember the '95 M3 does not have traction control.
