A lot of trouble for nothing. I did it. If you can get under the car and drop the tray just use some regular screws and some of those "spring nuts" on the back. At this point who cares if the factory installed t hat way? Surely there's a supply of donor crunched E46 M3's around, so people must be doing it. But apparently not here in the Midwest? They're doing some pretty cool variants for special and/ or racing applications, too. - Mark ----- mark@pdc-racing.net Check out my JustRacing homepage at: http://www.justracing.com/homepage/mdadgar

#7. Seat Repair - from Mark Duckworth
Top
Date: Mon, 14 May 2007 17:47:36 -0400 From: Mark Duckworth <mdlkml@atari-source.com> Subject: Seat Repair Hello guys, Just thought I'd share my little seat repair story. Leatherseats.com offers replacement front driver and passenger leather for $599. I decided that I can't necessarily afford this right now, plus it might be a silly investment since I'm targeting an E46. One day I decided that despite being the incorrect approach to repair I might as well give sewing it a shot. Here is some images of the repair. The edited photo shows where all the breaks were because unbelievably, it's actually hard to tell where it ripped the whole way through! I just got bottle of Zymol treat. Very nice stuff. Best leather conditioner I've used yet. There's some other pics in there. Just spent about 4 hours meticulously cleaning all of the burnt on brake dust off the front wheels and they turned out brilliant. http://aoi.atari-source.com/~mduckworth/m3_seat/ Thanks, Mark

#8. Mechanic/PPI Recommendation: North Atlanta - from M540
Top
Date: Mon, 14 May 2007 19:32:56 -0400 From: "M540" <m540@bellsouth.net> Subject: Mechanic/PPI Recommendation: North Atlanta All: I just wanted to pass this along in case it helps anyone now or down the road in an archive search. Last week I had John Anderson of Bavarian Mobile Works (http://www.bavarianmobileworks.com/index.html) perform a pre-purchase inspection for me on an E46 sedan in the Roswell/N. Atlanta area. I found his name highly recommended in other BMW forums and can now add my own praises to his resume. Although he is willing to do PPIs on-site when cars cannot be moved, in this case he worked closely with the selling dealer to get the car to his shop where he charged me a pre-agreed upon two hours labor for a very thorough inspection. He caught little details (ex: very slightly defective audio speakers) that I'd have not caught in person and was enormously helpful, available, and professional throughout. If I lived in that area, John would be my mechanic. I never actually was able to visit his shop, but the dealer said it was packed with BMWs and Porsches and he looked to be staying very busy. No affiliation beyond being a very happy customer... Kevin

Someone needs > to give that baby a home in an e36! > You know I seriously thought about it, but that's a lot of money and I know I'd have to come up with a ton of other $$ for the engine management and tuning, and would still need a clutch and new suspension components on top of it. And even then I'd just use it as a wicked daily driver rather than a track rat :-P Thanks, Mark
