'Back in the day' I had a few Celica AllTrac's running about 300HP (that 3S-GTE engine has amazing potential for a mid-80's design) and drivetrain issues seemed to plague them as well if driven really hard. All that traction with good tires is just ruthless to the drivetrain ;-) The real problem was the maintenance though. Doing a clutch on a AllTrac is so nasty that when I worked as a wrench for a Toyota dealer it was like pulling teeth to get someone to take on the job. Anyone know how tough something like a clutch job is on the STi? A friend of mine has had two STi's. Like others have said they are wicked quick but his cars were always so loud (HKS exhaust and such) that I could not stand to ride in it unless it was at full throttle. A tough car to be in if you are not the one behind the wheel, that's for sure. I could just be getting old though.... Dave 'you kids get the F off my lawn' Thomas

But then its one of those things I had to experience on my own since I was really missing the KICK. I think my ex I Stock race car was a bit more comfy. This STi was Christian's track rat and already has some 5K track miles. Powertrain warranty to 60K (and until 2009) in effect so he had the 5th gear issue replaced under warranty (it now has the 05 synchros). It has 2 piece rotor so changing the disk is half of what it costs for OEM. I plan on enjoying it until the end of the year and then definitely get an E46 M3. My dream car as of now, the new M Coupe. PS: I liked the automobilemag.com article. ....we like supermodels as well but we wouldn't put a ring on one of them. LOL. For now I am single so I can deal with the auto drama I guess ;) Ahmad

A guy built one with 185k on it and ran it for awhile before blowing it up with 14+psi.... turbo hard parts $2500.00 Tec3r $2700.00 I did do all the work, minus some welding... result 353whp 345 trq @7.5psi! New motor 12-16psi 400-500whp.... It starts costing more when you get hooked on the boost...like crack...
