Well - no doubt the 535 now trumps the audi, but when it was 530 vs. A6 - both had about the same power ~250, and the Audi has a lot more room back seat and cargo bay, plus other very nice features. The driving experience was quite similar. So given the $10-15K cheaper price for the Audi - I think it is a better deal for a "family sedan". Although - agree if it were my daily driver and primary car I would opt for the 535xit with a manual trans in a heart beat over an A6. I know we're *way* off topic here, but the A6 3.2 wagon is really underwhelming from the POV of power/driveline. Auto-only (and I *hate* Audi's current slushboxes -- my wife has an S4 Avant automatic (v8)), coupled with a 3.2l v6 that sounds like a truck motor (IMHO). It's much better looking and finished than the 5 series, but I'd wager big money that a 535ixt would be much more fun to drive. -------------------- Quote -------------------- Not only more fun to drive, but will be worth much much more when you sell it. Audi's flat suck in the resale department, and I bet the Dodge SRT's do too. Rich With an A6 Avant that's worth almost nothing after 6 years.

I live in Hayward but work in Cupertino. If you ever see a Techno Violet M3 with lic "TECH BIZ"; that would be me. Anyway, I have only driven the Magnum SRT8. I don 't like the 300 and the Charger is only mildly interesting. The Magnum looks like a muscle car. Accelerates like a rocket and stops like you dropped an anchor. My drop in the rear is 0.5" from OEM with my spring setup, but I was wondering what the best drop would be for the front since I can adjust the perches. DA or SA. What are your spring rates, how long are the springs? Pete S. usually gives out ride heights to start from but IMO they always sound awfully low to me. If you're at .5" lower than original springs then you are way higher than what they (tck) recommend. Carlos 98 M3

#10. Active Autowerke Stage II s/c kit update - from Matt Bader
Top
Date: Sun, 24 Jun 2007 00:12:32 -0400 From: "Matt Bader" <mbader@exammaster.com> Subject: Active Autowerke Stage II s/c kit update Over the last day and a half I have put about 150 miles of mixed driving on my car since the s/c kit upgrade (intercooler, change in pulley size, software upgrade, larger injectors, different HFM and blow-off valve). When I first drove the car home from European Performance, I was in a lot of traffic, and my first impression was that I couldn't feel much difference. Fortunately, on the second take, I realize that the upgrade did make a solid difference. Car pulls very nicely over 5k rpm, a noticeable difference. The guy who did the installation, and who has done probably 40-50 s/c installs over the years, said it was one of the stronger one's he's driven. So, I am pleased with the results. With the intercooler painted black (by the shop) you can't even notice it behind the front bumper unless you walk up to the car and inspect closely. The only issue was one of the pipes from s/c to intercooler was too short. So, they contacted Active to give them a heads up about that. I just checked my mileage which was based on half tank before intercooler upgrade and then about a half tank burned afterwards, with a very heavy foot in both cases: 20.66 mpg overall, which I consider respectable under the circumstances. And, yes, Delaware does have open roads, but not many. Fortunately, I went to a cook-out this evening up in PA, and had a chance to wind her out a bit. My sister was saying "Gee I hope you don't mind driving up here." And, I'm thinking "No problem!" Matt Bader 98 M3/4
