I bought that one for the E36 M3 and made one for my wife's XJ-S V12 ... 1) The "ends" on the store one are articulated in two axes -- this allows them to align with the rain gutters of the engine bay, which splay outwards and are on a downward slope. 2) The ends are rubber/plastic-coated to avoid damaging the paint. 3) The ends are adjustable in/out from center. 4) Having a screw to adjust the height of the hangar is very nice. 5) On the one I built, I used some C-channel and boxed it up on the open side to prevent it from twisting ... that V12 is a whole lot bigger than the M3's I-6 :) --Andrew >Nice and simple. Scott, it would be worthwhile to find out if you can use the DME from a similar vintage 325is. I believe both cars have 413 DMEs and perhaps the only difference is the chip. Worth looking into anyway. <shrug> Really small field at Putnam btw. The other IS car packed it up today, possible blown head gasket. :-( Carlos 98 M3 with a messed up pwr steering line from my off in t5 :-/

There's another video on Youtube with a race boat, a superbike and an F1 car (sort of a drag race). It really shows the acceleration of the F1 car. Not sure if they still do these a lot, but these types of "races" used to be pretty popular at F1 events. BMW did them also. They'd actually do it a few times on a race weekend - Friday, Sat, & Sun. They would vary the starting gaps each day, with the F1 car typically winning on Sunday. #7. E36 M3 RTAB Part Number - from david kroth

Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2007 06:28:41 -0700 (PDT) From: david kroth <david_kroth@yahoo.com> Subject: E36 M3 RTAB Part Number Realoem shows 33326770817 for my 98 sedan. Dealer orders 33326770817; that's what the receipt says - that's what the parts bag says. The actual part is labeled 33326757885. The design is slightly different than what I'm familiar with. Realoem takes this back to the Z4. Dealer says 885 has superseded 817. Anyone have any recent experience with E36 RTABS? Has there indeed been a change? I don't want to pull the car apart only to find there is a problem. My Harbor Freight version appears to be identical to the one Andrew references, except painted red rather than green. (Cost less too, but I don't recall how much.)
