A word of warning here. Be sure not to pump the clutch pedal or to apply too much pressure to the hydraulic system while the slave cylinder is off the transmission. Its piston/actuating rod are retained only by an internal circlip and risk being ejected, with really messy results. BMW has a special tool (well of course they do...) to retain the slave innards while bleeding this way. Now as to why the slave cylinder isn't designed to have its bleed nipple pointing upward, so that it can be properly bled while in place, who knows? Joe's '95 car had the Dinan supercharger and was featured on the cover of one of the big car mags (C&D?). Joe was an avid autocrosser and could be found at both GGC BMW CCA events as well as the Lockheed Sports Car Club autocrosses. Joe was truly great people. Unfortunately, I received news earlier this evening of his passing. Joe was one of the first people I meet in the GGC, was an active auto-crosser and track person, but above all was an awesome person to be around. My introduction to participation in motorsports was autocross, and Joe was one of the first people I met and became friends with during that time. He will be missed. Jim Bassett
