I ordered the connector below ($7.60 w/ BMWCCA discount) and successfully transferred the lock mechanism to the in-car connector. Carefully prying out two little tabs a little on the lock portion while pushing it off the main body disengaged it. I did it three or four times so the tabs aren't all that fragile if you're careful. Transferring it to the in-car connector was pretty straightforward. Be sure to line it up with channel correctly, on both sides, before pushing past where the tabs engage or you'll need to take it off and try again (don't ask me how i know). It would be nice if BMW had made those wires a few inches longer. It took more pressure than I thought it might to lock that thing down but it disconnects pretty easily using the prescribed pry up w/ big screwdriver method. Jim, thanks again for the p/n. marty '96 M3 - no longer have to bang on dash when left speakers go fuzzy or stop working. I thought of Joe just the other day as I had not heard from him in some time and missed his frequent email that never failed to brighten my day. RIP Joe. You will be missed. At Shifterfest SanFran, Joe let me drive his S/C 95 M3 to the gathering after the shifterfest which was a hoot. I can still picture Dana Le following me in her 325is trying to keep up. On a subsequent trip to the Bay Area, I got to meet up with him again. Joe was such a cool character to know, even as someone passing through town. R.I.P., Joe. Thanks for being you. #6. 1995 M3 seat belts - used, yours for shipping - from Chris Papademetrious

He gave me the old seatbelt mechanisms back. Before I throw them out, I figured I'd offer them to the list for the cost of shipping. The part numbers are: 72 11 8 200 853 72 11 8 200 854 If someone has a totally dead seatbelt, these would work. If you are looking to freshen yours up, these probably won't put you in any better shape. My car has 169k miles on it. - Chris

If I wait and feather an instant between gears, making sure the clutch is fully engaged and then get on it in second gear, it takes right off, and I have trouble holding traction. There's no hesitation at all. It's got plenty of grunt. Is it software or hardware? Has anyone experienced this? Thanks, Bill Ft. Worth 99 M Coupe, 2/22/99 build date

#10. crank and cam sensors - from Brian Ruiz

Date: Sun, 29 Jul 2007 13:10:15 -0700 From: "Brian Ruiz" <eurowerke@gmail.com> Subject: crank and cam sensors Hey all, I finally got around to testing my crank sensor yesterday, and it seems I *really* need a new one. Just wanted to confirm that the spec in the Bentley is right: 1280 +- 10% ohms. Mine read 536 ohms. =-O Yikes. I also wanted to know if the readings would fluctuate due to temperature. The engine was stone cold when I took the measurement (well, as stone cold as it could get for sitting overnight then sitting in 90 degree heat in direct sunlight the next day). Also, I didnt' notice any test procedures in the Bentley for the cam sensor, are there any tests I could do on it to check it out? Thanks! Brian build 8/95
