I'm having to drop my pan to rebaffle, and might consider at LTW setup if you have one for a value price. Please give me a heads up asap though, the car is supposed to go in tomorrow AM for a new baffle (old=turner, new=VAC, appears my turner flaps may be sticking with my Amsoil? (guess/shrugh/sigh). THanks for your time! -- Thanks, Ben

At the time they were installed, I was on stock springs and Bilstein Sports also. So far, it has been 1.5 years and 15K miles (many autocross and track days included) and they have been working flawlessly. I didn't notice a marked difference in ride quality except that the rear-end was doing what was asked of it (which is a good thing). They haven't made any noises and I've never greased/lubed them since they were installed. Hope this helps. Drive Safely, Raza

#3. Flat spot between first and 2nd - from Bill Sharp

Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2007 07:27:08 -0500 From: Bill Sharp <M3@cueframe.us> Subject: Flat spot between first and 2nd This is happening at any of the higher revolutions when I shift. When I shift quickly, the car goes into almost passive mode and then after the hesitation, comes back. If I shift faster than going to the grocery, or even that slowly, it gets right on it. It's a '99 with CAI, MAF, TB along with an after market exhaust. So, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the RPMs at which I shift. I'm not sure what you mean by "those engines have no power there." Thanks, Bill Ft. I don't believe I've ever heard or seen directions for these things. Duane Collie a long time ago wrote a short article for the Roundel on his tckline roll bar install but I've never been able to find it online, I believe someone did scan it in a few years back. Curious was this Scott Berkowitz old cage? Good karma if it is. :-) Carlos (tired from the Summit Pt. trip) 98 M3

Interesting. Wish there was an easy way to search the Roundel articles. Curious was this Scott Berkowitz old cage? Good karma if it is. :-) Nope. I got it from a club racer in NY, Tim Peloso. I haven't met him yet, but I will in a couple of weeks at Mt. Tremblant. Hopefully the karma will still be good. ;-) - Larry -- Lawrence Barbieri Logical Conclusions 96 Blanchette Dr. Marlborough, MA 01752 larry@logicalconclusions.com

Mine do squeak here and there, but I just take it as the car having a pleasant conversation with me. :) FWIW, I'd recommend the Powerflex over OEM just for ease of installation. Also FWIW, if you're doing the job yourself, I'd recommend using an RTAB removal tool. VPD makes one and I believe Bimmerworld will rent you one if you buy the bushings from them. I did mine without the tool (sawzall/drill method), and if I had to do it again, I'd find myself a tool. Wait, I think that came out wrong. Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2007 06:26:51 -0700 From: "Benjamin Hirsch" <benjamin.hirsch@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] RTAB ride characteristics Dan, I'll second Raza's comments. Although, being a track junky, I'll also add that it depends on your own personal tastes. I've owned 2 E36 M3's, and I put poly RTAB's into both of them. The job of the first ones wasn't as good (and was done by me, my first time), and ended up squeaking, but I learned a lot. The second time around, and with the latest edition bushings (the current powerflex bushing), and a good install, and they don't squeak, and right quality is only slightly tarnished if at all (barely noticable), and as Raza said, the suspension (geometry) is where it is supposed to be, so the car does what it is supposed to do. I've been very happy with them for RTABS. Another option, depending on your tastes, and what you do with the car, is stock RTABS plus limiters, but I'm not convinced these function as well as powerflex polys. -- Thanks, Ben

What a frustrating experience! The Mini Cooper discussion sites all seem devoted to discussing colors and picnics and butterflies. I finally gave up and tightened them by feel. Sheesh. Great car, though-even with its French engine driving the wrong wheels. Pat Kelly Richmond, VA pkelly@agincourtcapital.com

#9. Pork Chop Blues - from Patrick Kelly

Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2007 09:36:12 -0400 From: "Patrick Kelly" <pkelly@agincourtcapital.com> Subject: Pork Chop Blues So, I jack to front end up to have a good look at a sagging pork chop (mmmm, sagging pork chop.) thinking a push rivet or two has come loose, and I see that the entire underpanel is coming off. Many of the anchoring points are cracked/broken beyond repair, and since the pork chops are both pretty chewed up, it's a good time to R&R everything. Questions: 1) Should I replace the front fender liners as well? Don't they also support/tie into the underpanel? 2) I'm inclined to just go with stock (and maybe reinforce a few key areas with sandwiched thin aluminum sheet), but could go for the JTD underpanel if y'all think it's worth the extra $100 or so. Car is daily driver but likes the track. =D TIA Pat Kelly 95 M3 w/stuff pkelly@agincourtcapital.com
